Flip This House #5

No lights in bathroom yet because the sconces cannot get installed until my trim and molding go up. That cannot go in until cabinets completely installed and countertop in

Parker Rose staging is here right now. Chaos of stuff coming in. But it is all lovely. Interior designer is here also. Looks like creamy linen sofas and silver and gold accents

There always needs to be a bit of chaos on the way to the finished product. So glad to hear you like their stuff. Getting excited for you!!

So…did you get the plumbing issue solved? I gather younwrote that post yesterday, Sunday!

Oy. Never a dull moment!

Obviously, there is a good reason why that stager is cheap!

I like Marilyn’s suggestions for the laundry room too. Let her find something for you. Anything but that plant!!!

Too bad we don’t all live in the area. We could be your worker bees, and you could borrow selected pieces of furniture and art!

I am having an exclamation point attack!!!

I’m eager to hear how cb’s day went, but I suspect she’s still at the house and not ready to post.

Here’s what happens if you do drop by - you get asked questions on bathroom hardware, cabinet color, and mirrors. You get asked about reading lamps and hallway lights. You get to help pick cabinet door handles and then install them. You get to tear store tags off towels. You get to help select the right plant for the foyer. And you get to take photos of the rooms and from the decks. It was so much fun, especially since I wasn’t the one running around with 101 decision to make, or the one installing all the cabinets, or the one running out to the car to keep trying out different comforters, or - well, you get the picture!

The staging in the living room, dining room, and kitchen is beautiful. Everything else was a work in progress when I left. I am in awe about how hard everyone was working, and that it will all be ready for the formal pictures tomorrow. Whew!

Sorry, meant closet door handles!

Photos loaded!!! Even though the living room furniture is not exactly what I imagined, they did a beautiful job with nice quality furniture. The deck seating is beefy but kind of boring. Their company does not accessorize much outside because everything gets ruined. So I will be bringing over something with color from my house. It might not be perfect but it will add some pops of color.

Of course my agent didn’t show up until they were long gone and then she got upset because they didn’t set the dining table with place settings and that the outdoor table was too much (4 seater instead of 6 seater) but it’s none of my business. I wasn’t the one negotiating with them

I’m exhausted… we had to open up the toilet room wall to install a new valve behind the tile. We got most of the shower fixtures in but I was upset because the metals weren’t exactly matching. Some items are from different vendors and are ‘stainless’ versus ‘brushed nickel’. The stainless looks really nice but the brushed nickel doesn’t really match the stainless. I got talked out of being picky about it for the sake of moving forward.

Master vanity is installed but still needs all it’s trim pieces and countertop. The countertop guy was supposed to show up today and install the soapstone countertops but, by 7pm, he had not come. I was not happy because I contacted him 10 times to make sure he installed on Monday. I know they were making the pieces (the one over dumbwaiter is a very strange size and needs 3 sides of bullnose) today because he called and asked a lot of questions

Just gorgeous!

Wow, the staging really makes the living room pop! Looks great!

If I were you, I would very seriously consider having them do the master bedroom and family room upstairs. You’ve already said that the size of the master is a weakness, and, to be brutally honest, the bed and side tables you have in there do nothing for the space. That would be a room that I would want the very best staging possible in. I don’t mean to be harsh but I figure that we can act as your informal focus group by providing honest feedback.

A small nit: I don’t think the red poinsettia enhances the kitchen.

My agent took all the bedding off the master bed and is going to be putting on plain white bedding and beautiful pillows that completely hide the headboard (which is hideous for the style of this house). I am going to stage my telescope in the chair corner and we will work on the side table.

Yes, we should have had them do the whole house, but it is not my call. I was adamant about the living and dining room

Sorry about some of the new pics I loaded… was taking pictures after dark and my cell phone doesn’t have enough oomph in the flash

There are two reasons the poinsettias are probably going out of the kitchen. One, I don’t think it is the right ‘pop’ we want. Second, I am very leery about taking listing photos that have any holiday decor. As soon as January comes that screams … has been on the market a long time… and the holiday decor looks stupid in the photos:)

They are in the house because we are going to use them set up around the house for Open Houses during the holidays

Very nice! I like the tables to the side of the fireplace. Very curvy and airy instead of those cabinets.

Yes, those are my absolute favorite pieces in the house. They don’t ‘fill up the space’ but add a lot of interest at the back end of the room. The decorator said she choose them to match the curves in the light fixtures

Wow. It’s come together so well. I really like the way the palms soften and mask the house next door, not only from the dining room but also from the deck. That deck looks huge!

I wish I could stop by and help like @Marilyn. Instead I have to join @nottelling’s informal focus group.

I’m glad the poinsettias in the kitchen will be disappearing. The red clashes with the room, the citrus colors on the other side of the stove, and even the picture in the open cookbook.

The furniture in the living room is great, but in pictures its placement makes the room look small. It looks like there isn’t enough room to comfortably walk behind the chairs to the far doors. Everything is so far away from the coffee table. What about pulling everything in closer, leaving a bit of space around the outside of the room.

Yes, I probably could not really live in that room because the dang coffee table is too far away to put down your glass of wine  The key thing she was trying to do was line up the coffee table and ottoman with the fireplace. So, both sides of the furniture will have to pull into the coffee table. I will give it a try with the guys tomorrow but I really did not want to touch what the decorator did

You’ve earned your glass of wine. White while the house is staged.

Wow! It’s getting better all the time!

Very nice change over the laundry room broom closet - basket and boxes look much better than plant.
