Yes, but comes at an incredible price tag. They tried to sell it last year for $10mil and it went off market June 2015. Then back on the market at $13mil and somehow raising price $3million is going to sell the house?
LONG time lurker here, love reading about all the excitement at each flip. I don’t post but I just HAD to say something about the house @Marilyn posted - has anyone seen the movie “The Glass Bottom Boat” with Rod Taylor and Doris Day? This house reminds me so much of that movie it’s scary!
Holy cow. That’s amazing.
I’d replace all the tile counters in the bathroom with granite, but other than that – wow!!
Regarding the house Marilyn posted – is that considered competition for coralbrook’s flip? If so, it doesn’t come close to cb’s. It’s not updated at all. The light fixtures are horrible – lots of fluorescents – and the kitchen and bathrooms need updating. And there are no views.
I’m going to throw out some of my opinions on the Liggett house and we can follow it and see how it goes:
I think it might be priced a little too high, especially as compared to the other house on 3672 Liggett (which oddly has a similar kid playhouse in backyard!) that has been dropping their price from $2.2 mil down to $1.699mil now, on the market for over 200 days I think.
It has the Mid Century vibe that young buyers love. But young buyers don’t usually have $1.99 mil to spare.
Buyers are going to love the bones of the house but their brains will say “I have to put in a whole new kitchen, open the kitchen up and all new bathrooms” It’s one of these houses that are not terribly distressed (appealing to investors), but it is not turn key. Those linger on the market for a long time
Some of the staging is very nice and appropriate to the style, but for $1.999 mil I would have removed Grandma’s beds and night stands out of the bedrooms and staged with some color
Just my 2 cents
Marilyn’s link has a very nice retro feel. We could shoot an episode of Mad Men there! Still, I’d rather live in CB’s house than either of these. The $13 million one is too much for me. I keep imagining scores of servants keeping cobwebs from forming on all those intricate ceilings.
Yes, you’re paying for the large well maintained house and large flat lot. The house is considerably bigger than the other Liggett house. Maybe a second story or deck could capture the bay and city view? Might have to take out trees. I suspect they just cleaned it up and staged with the existing furniture. It all makes me feel like a kid again!
Agree no need for a $13 million house when there are perfectly fine $6.6 million dollar houses around: http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-170000317-360_San_Gorgonio_San_Diego_CA_92106
Wow… my coastline view is looking like a bargain right about now among those multi million homes. Of course they have nice large lots and a lot of square footage.
OK, this is bordering on the absurd … 383 views and 13 saves on Zillow yesterday. Guess a legal holiday leaves a lot of free time to search for homes in San Diego:)
I did not put in the actual washlet toilet seat. I just put in an outlet in case the buyer ever wants to install one. I have no idea how people install those washlets without an outlet set next to the toilet. That would involve a lot of opening up drywall and running wire
FINALLY!!!
I am very happy to let you all know that, as of 7:55pm, I am in contract for the sale. I don’t want to reveal too much about my buyer but he has a very large down payment and we are going to be able to close quickly.
Yippee, @coralbrook! 2017 is looking like it might be a great year for you!

Congratulations, @coralbrook!
So happy for you!!!
Congrats!!!
Congratulations!
Believe me… it has been a long process and I was on pins and needles the whole time. Really wanted to share with you all but I was trying to be very careful. The buyer is in a high pressure profession and is very busy. Did not take hardly any days off during the holidays and, on the days he had off, his agent was on a flight. So, it has been a lot of days stretching out during the negotiations.
AWESOME NEWS! Congrats @coralbrook!!!

Happy dance!!!
BINGO! That’s great news - congrats, CB.
