I fixed the interior shots in Flickr. I had forgotten to move them into the ‘group’
Nice!!
Point taken on the pocket doors. Some are very light weight and cheesy. I would do some barn doors for laundry room, etc. except that I am not sure they go with the style of this house.
I love Coranado, but the difference between starting SEAL training, finishing SEAL training, and then getting assigned to the SEAL base there is …huge. I can’t imagine buying a $2.5 million property on the off chance that it all comes together.
sounds like a combo temp crash pad for the kid / long term future retirement home for the parents
The part that boggles my mind is Dad is insisting on all major renovations completed before Naval Academy graduation this June. I would’ve done only mandatory repairs and waited to spend big money after these young men thrash everything
3D Side View 3 picture - What is the odd brown object sticking out of the house (perpendicular) just below the roof?
^ It’s not actually sticking out, it appears to be some sort of wood built-in bench along the back of the deck. If you look at the second 3d view, you can see it.
I like to prowl some auction sites and came across these light fixtures. They are probably too big/expensive, but they are interesting:

New windows installed!!
Today we installed 3 new windows in the living room. We did as much prep as possible before the windows arrived, but we are doing some major surgery to get each window installed.
Pull out old window sill and trim
Chisel, cut, whatever after measuring new window
Cut, mill, sand and prime new window sill
Sand, bondo, dry and sand window surround
Install window sill
Install window and seal with tons of exterior sealant
We have to do that for each window because the window sills and trim are rotted. Later we are going to trim both the interior and exterior, although exterior stucco is going to extend to each window - no exterior trim. Keeping original house design
Some photos loaded
Speaking of stucco… my stucco guy finally made it over to the house. Last week he left a message that he was down on the dead end and couldn’t find the house. Last night (Sunday) he left a message "I’m over here at the house… " What the hey??
Anyway, after walking the house and seeing all the patches and window and door cancellations he is going to charge $4,500 to restucco the house… and that’s only the part not altered by the addition!! OMG… that is at least $1,500 more than I have ever paid before and I cannot imagine what he will charge for the 30 ft high addition. There goes the budget
I just ordered this lighting for the hall bath. I wanted something light and airy and this was on sale and the right dimensions

I’m getting the Antique Silver
The strange brown thing sticking out on the deck in the 3D pictures is a set of cabinets with countertop that I’m going to put in the upper deck. The cabinets are there because the dumb waiter is coming up to that deck under the cabinet.
Pretty chandelier, cb!
We are going to start running new gas lines in about 2 weeks. My job is to always be looking ahead and making sure all the materials are on site that are needed for the next big job - especially if it involves design decisions!!
I realized that he is going to insist that we know what appliances are getting installed (and the electrician is going to need to know requirements for ovens). Right now I have to make a basic decision between cooktop with knobs on top, or fancy Pro Style cooktop with knobs on front

Knobs on Front! I don’t even have to look at options. I have on top ones—and hate! Hard to clean around, hard to turn off if using a large pan, gets hot, etc.
I have an older version of this Dacor cooktop and I love it.

(I’m a little confused by the AJ Madison site, since the photo doesn’t change when you select other options within a model. I intended to post a stainless cooktop with black grates, but may have selected the wrong model number!)
There is nothing wrong with knobs on top!
I LOVE my Dacor 5 burner cooktop!
I have not problem turning it off as all controls are all ON THE RIGHT LOWER CORNER.
NO need to pay more for a more expensive model.
this is what I have

And Dacor wall ovens are the original and best convection oven for your $$.
Dacor has a nice promotion going on ;

^^Nice!!! I would check the websites of the competition… If one is running a promotion, there is a chance another one is doing something similar.
cb: Regarding the cost of your stucco guy – You budgeted $3,000 and he’s saying $4,500. Yes, that’s an additional $1,500, but it’s also a whopping 50% above your estimate. Could your estimate have been so far off the mark? Or do you need someone else to give you a quote?
