Flip This House #6

Holy cow. The house from the outside looks actually kinda OK. but the inside. OMG.

@swimcatsmom Looks like an incredible house, but to say that it is overdecorated is an understatement, to say the least! Where’s Miss Havisham? Through the murk and gloom and stuffed heads I think I see some extremely expensive “room set” wall papers along the lines of Bradbury&Bradbury.

Can you imagine the DUST in that place?

Time for the Frank and Mike from the American Pickers to roll up!

Wow, that house. The house we bought was “decorated” in a similar way although thankfully there was no taxidermy. I even recognize a piece of furniture, in photo 21 I think, that we bought from the previous owner - a hallway mirror with hat racks on the side. Yikes!

We saw photos like these of our house but where they had clearly brought in the klieg lights because the reality in person was much darker and more dreary. And yes, 10 years worth of dust! So nice to free a house from all that crap although I do like that bear ceiling fixture in the taxidermy room a bit.

Looking at the pictures of the house makes me want to sneeze. Can you imagine the dust accumulation?

@greenwitch, I noticed that bear fixture also! Actually, I’m sure there’s quite a lot of great stuff in the house. If you could see it.

Ah, so there is a bear fixture in photo #20, and a bare fixture in photos 29/30

OMG!! I just found out the house belongs to the obstetrician who delivered my daughter (almost 28 years ago). I didn’t care for him much at the time, glad I didn’t know about his house…

I keep imagining the realtor when they fist saw it then trying to figure out what to say in the description of the house. I notice they did not say a whole lot.

“A photo is worth a thousand words” - that’s what I would have said in the description if I were the listing agent.

or “Unique décor”. It needs a @coralbrook touch of class

Even beige builder colors would work better in that house. Anything would be preferable.

Honestly, as much as I admire coralbrook, her aesthetic would not be right for that house.

It really is a fabulous house. Look at all of that great woodwork! The patios, the stonework. It definitely needs simplification, but I hope to doG that whoever buys it is someone who appreciates the style and doesn’t paint the woodwork!

Aaack! No paint on that wood!! Agree.

I have a feeling cb does her aesthetic because it fits the vibe of the homes she remodels. There is nothing even remotely comparable to that house on the west coast… I hope there is a cb twin who does her magic in that area!

That house made me think of The House On The Rock in Wisconsin. Not at all the same look, but the concept of every room packed with collections with different themes. I agree if you can get it down to the bones (and take the antlers off the lights), it could be an appealing house.

The folks buying that house need to see it EMPTY before the closing. If the contents are included…they need a HUGE dumpster.

Or antique dealer.

OR junque dealer!

American Pickers’ paradise!

Just catching up after a few days off. That is a very interesting house…someone spent way too much money cramming too many garish things on the outside and inside. How could anyone think that is a “cozy” nice place to come home to after a hard day at work?

Way too many “collections” going on there. Even the kitchen has a million collectible plates crammed in there

The guys have finished installing the appliances except tomorrow we have to wrestle the heavy double oven into the cabinet and configure everything. Then we move on to installing trim and baseboard and they can move back in.

We have a big deck to build and carving out a portion of garage and creating an attached laundry room. That work can continue after they move back into the front of the house
