The way the heat disappears into the wall in the bedroom is amusing. I guess they couldn’t be bothered with plumbing two separate pieces.
I agree with emilybee, they look like my hot water heat.

Did you look at this one CB?
Definitely forced hot water baseboard heating.
The baseboard heat in the bedroom is definitely a hack job. My guess is they moved a wall, and rather than redo the baseboard they just built over it. It’s a terrible way to do it, if there is ever a problem they won’t even be able to take the cover off without tearing up the wall.
If I look closely I can see a bunch of things that make me question the skill level of whoever did the work.
For example, look at the bathroom in (redfin) picture 19. You can see that the molding under the window hasn’t been cut at the same angle on both sides, the outlet box is recessed too far into the wall so the plug does not come out in from of the plate, it looks to me like the plug is crooked, and there’s a piece of molding missing (although that will probably be fixed). The tile looks like stock HD.
Picture 16 in the bedroom- in addition to the hack job where the baseboard goes through the wall, that door in the middle of the wall is not centered in the frame. It looks like they had a door blank that was too wide so they just cut a couple inches off of one side. The door to the bedroom is scraping the carpet.
Picture 14 - what the heck are those switches in the middle of the wall on the right side?
Picture 7 - the base trim is missing on the cabinets on the right. The upper cabinets on the right do not come down as low as the other upper cabinets. This is where the stove was originally, and they either re-used the original cabinet (it looks like most of the cabinets are the same, they just added pulls) or they ordered the wrong size and just went with it.
Etc.
Looks like zillow now has updated pics, you can still see the originals here: https://www.estately.com/listings/info/9-bacon-farm-road
The bathroom has some FHW baseboard.
I don’t see anything in the kitchen, unless there is a toekick unit under the cabinet between the fridge and the sink. I have these in my kitchen, you run the hot water to it from the boiler and there’s a fan built in that comes on when it gets warm due to the hot water flowing through it. They are a bit noisy because of the fan, but it works.
^ That why mine has its own on/off switch. It is a tad noisy but on the rare occasion I’ve had to put it on, it warms up room after about 10 minutes on. Just long enough to take the chill out.
^ I can turn mine off too, but they are the only heat in my kitchen, which is pretty big. And it gets darn cold here.
Sorry, I’m not familiar with hot water radiators.
@notrichenough - good catches on the details. I can guarantee buyers will notice all those sloppy details and start wondering how things are finished under the covers.
Yes, I saw the Coronado property but I haven’t gone to look at it yet. I’m trying to focus on finding a new investor and my CC remodel. If I purchase now I’d be sitting on a property for at least 2 months
Hot water floor radiators are the norm in New England, Not many places have forced air.
Our forced air was fine until these cats! They like to plop themselves on top of the floor vents and block the air flow. Argh.
Bacon Farm road!!!
Sterne St small house
Now I am really really mad. The small house on Sterne that I inspected, which was listed for $595,000 just closed escrow yesterday for $625,000. This is EXACTLY the same offer I made if all of the terms and conditions were considered. The agent did not even bother to respond to my offer with a confirmation or anything. And, of course, the listing agent represented the buyer.
I cannot see who the legal buyer is yet until the County Recorder publishes the index for yesterday, but you can bet I am going to be all over researching this transaction.
You should be mad. Is this the slime agent?? Is there any legal action you can take?? He’s seriously impeding your ability to make a living.
I would actually love forced air. (My house has steam radiators!) When you think about it, it is strange that an area of the country where pipes freezing is a major issue if the heat goes out for any reason has houses full of pipes. Probably to do with the age of the housing stock, and the comparative lack of need for central air. (I would love to have central air during humid periods, I must say…)
@coralbrook, that smells.
Ugh, I hate forced air. Dries out needed humidity in houses in the winter. My lips are cracking just thinking about it…
It is not the slimeball Chicken House agent. It is the other agent who is so busy he cannot be bothered with me and he plays games taking properties on and off market changing asking price all the time
Legal action??
Or complain to the appropriate board or licensing agency about an ethics violation.
It really seems unethical to me.
I’m reviewing the situation with my agent and her Manager because I want a learning experience. I want to know if he specifically violated any Real Estate brokerage rules. I probably won’t do anything about it but I want to be armed with detailed knowledge for the next time I might have to deal with this guy. He sells a lot of homes in the neighborhood so I have to tread lightly.
And, of course, see if there’s any action you can take to prevent him from doing this again in the future, to you or anyone else.
