Flip This House - My Own Home

Still haven’t installed the cute turquoise tile yet. I’ve decided to use the white marble as baseboard around the master bath so tile guy is coming back next Tuesday for baseboard and the kitchen backsplash.

Struggling with vanity selection for the bathroom. I wanted to wait until the tile was installed to see what ‘vibe’ was going on in the room. This always spells doom for me because i end up in a time crunch. But this time I’m not in a crunch. At first I thought the room would need a pop of color so was thinking about the gorgeous turquoise grey shiny IKEA cabinets from IKEA but now I feel that they might be too glossy and contemporary. It’s too bad because I could configure them with storage exactly the way I like. I am spoiled by the old cabinets which were custom made to my exact specs. I had a hidden multi outlet inside the pull out shelves so I could just pull out a shelf and start using stuff. Never had to put anything up on the counter to plug it in.

Looking through everything on the Internet I cannot find anything in a good style with excellent drawers and storage.

I need a single sink 60 and 48

I took heed to the excellent issue raised in the earlier posts. Would a roof on the deck darken the studio? So I made the guys lay plywood over the rafters while I stood inside the studio. For some reason it did not darken the room much. And, I realized the shade roof will come in handy during the summer. Sun sets straight out over the ocean and it can get very hot late afternoon so overhang will help.

^^That’s what I was going to say! That western sun can be brutal.

Are you saying either 48" or 60" vanity? Also I forgot where the turquoise tile is going.

A bunch of brainstorming ideas…

This is my favorite; a Royal Blue cabinet would help the mother of pearl accents in the tiles pop, and the lines of the cabinet complement the wavy tile. https://www.wayfair.com/home-improvement/pdp/kitchen-bath-collection-katherine-60-single-bathroom-vanity-set-kbcl1164.html?piid=39420443%2C39420442

cb, does the turquoise Ikea cabinet/vanity with the custom storage you like also come in white?? Most of their stuff does.

Agree. I would get those white IKEA cabinets. A white-pearl grey bath will have that coveted spa look. The vanities linked above are nice but are too dark for CB’s bathroom, IMO.

The IKEA cabinets are all very linear. Are you hoping to continue the more feminine feel, or are you mostly interested in function? Could you get custom cabinetry again and build it exactly how you want?

I love the pale blue Genivive one that @Marilyn posted above. Could also do a matte white style from IKEA.

I need a 60 inch and (hopefully matching) 48 inch

As far as I can tell, Stufurhome is only making grey and white now. So the light blue must be a close out.

Yes, unfortunately the light blue one is only available in 60, so I’m going to have to eliminate that one. It has such a specific style that a different vanity in the same room will be very tricky.

In looking at the other ones, I like the blue one that has a drawer under the sink cabinet for more storage. But, I have to look really carefully with that blue because it might not be the right blue. Cannot have a ‘primary blue’, need a greyed down blue. Ruling out the big curvy blue one because the drawers on each side are very small. A lot of the space in that cabinet is taken up with the side designs on the vanity. Lacking good storage.

Ceilings are getting painted. I was very worried about this decision, but it was the right thing to do!! Thank God because there is no going back:) Even my dark-wood-hugging carpenter thinks they look really nice. Changed my avatar and loaded a couple of pics to our group.

This is the first coat of thick shellac primer with some white tint in it. It was sprayed on. Still need 3 more coats of paint on the old pine wood. The pine has a ton of ‘texture’ and I’ve made the decision that I’m not going to pay for the guys to try to putty up every knot and crack or we will be here until Christmas

Bath Vanity
Here is the color (which I love) but the style that probably does not work with bathroom. The turquoise in the back of this kitchen

Still searching for lighting. So far, it’s the Monroe style with the long silver post. But, here’s another one that appeals to me (and there are very few that are appealing to me)

Lovely, and very feminine. But, don’t think I want to give up the ‘her’ vanity 60". The empty space to the left or the right of it will just become a cleaning nightmare  Ideally I could get a 60" without countertop so that I can set in the countertop to go from wall to wall so that nothing falls down in the annoying 1" crack on the side of the vanity

No idea if they actually have these in stock:

If anything else exists like this, I couldn’t find them!

I like the white ceilings. Good choice.

Just say no to claw feet anything. That style just does not work with CB’s beautiful shower. The vanities IMO have to be simple and not draw attention away from the gorgeous waves.

Just say no to all linear Scandinavian anything, That style just does not work with CB’s beautiful feminine ambience of mother of pearl and waves and oceanfront suggestions. The vanities IMO have to complement and enhance the lovely tile work, not dull them down in an all white room.

The Provence is nice but don’t like the storage. Looks like little 12” drawers on each side of really large sink cabinet. I really need 24 inch wide drawers on each side of the sink cabinet. I’ll start looking at what IKEA has in White that is not so contemporary style. Reason is that with IKEA (or any kitchen type cabinet) I can get wide drawers and pull out shelves that work with my pre-plugged appliances. I now realize that the closed small drawers don’t let me have the curlers, hair dryer, straight iron, etc all plugged inside the cabinet so I can just pull them up and use them. I’ve gotten spoiled and don’t want to go backwards.

Not that I ever pull all that hair stuff out very often. Maybe twice a month:). Don’t spend much time on my hair when I’m spending the whole day in Home Depot
