Hi I am currently a senior at a very high ranked school in Texas. FSU is my top choices and I would like to hear from other people what my chances are of being a full admit at Tallahassee.
SAT: 1210… 610 reading 600 math
GPA: 3.6 w
I have taken AP Spanish Language and AP Language and this year I will be taking AP Spanish Literature.
I have 100+ community service hours from huge organizations
I’m apart of BBYO and served on executive board as treasurer my freshman year and I am currently Communications Officer of Best Buddies
I attended Chapter Leadership Seminar in Israel this past summer and Chapter Leadership Training Confrence in 2016
I’m in Key Club and was a competitive and school volleyball athlete for two years… decorated as well
Please let me know my chances and if there are any other things I should consider to better my chances of getting accepted into the business school at FSU.
Sorry to report that I think your chances aren’t good. First, FSU recalculates your GPA to only include academic classes and gives a 1 point bump for AP, DE classes and a .5 bump for honors. If your weighted GPA calculated this way is 3.6, then you are well below the average. The middle 50% of Fall applicants last year had SATs between 1290-1400 and GPAs between 4.1 - 4.5. Summer is lower at 1210-1310 and 3.8-4.3. If you look at the FSU common data set, you can see how they value GPA, course rigor and test scores. 79% of enrolled students had an unweighted GPA of 3.75 and above. My daughter was admitted to FSU last year for summer with a 3.94 recalculated GPA and 1270 SAT – but her ECs were off the charts, too.
It doesn’t hurt to try though. You may have other characteristics that they desire. Deadline for first round is Nov. 1 so get it done! Good luck.
As far as EC’s go, this is the FSU policy. “ The most important factors in our admissions review process are the student’s GPA, SAT/ACT scores, and strength of schedule. Extracurriculars are considered, but the academic profile is much more important.” That is per a DM from FSU admissions
Hey! So I’m not a student at FSU, but I am a Florida native (and am applying to FSU thus year) and based on what I know, I would think that your chances are decently good of being a full admit. Florida Universities do place a huge emphasis on scores and GPA, and while yours may be a little lower than the middle 50, I will say that you EC’s are impressive. Make sure you really work hard on your essays and stay optimistic!
