Florida State Class of 2029 Official RD Thread

This is the official discussion thread for Florida State University Class of 2029 RD applicants. Ask your questions and connect with fellow applicants.

For OOS , applied RD back in October -are students required to send in mid-year grades to FSU? Update the SSAR ?

My daughter just received an email from FSU (we are OOS) asking her to correct the course levels on the SSAR. She logged in to show me, it looks like she entered freshman year English and History class as “IB (predicted)” instead of “Honors”. She is an IB diploma candidate. Also, for all “standard” classes like gym/health, she entered it as “college prep”. She corrected all errors and submitted.

So, do you think this will make them look upon the application poorly? She has already received acceptances at PSU and Clemson which also take the SSAR- did they not notice the error?! This adventure sure is a rollercoaster ride! FSU is definitely a reach because she could not go test optional!

Just a WAG
With her being on an IB track they may look as an honest mistake and that’s why they reached out for clarification.

compared to If she was not on an IB track

Plus being OOS the mistake was caught and corrected before a decision on admission

Good Luck

Our son received an email on Monday saying that results will be out on February 13th. He is going for music performance, and his audition is the 24th. He won’t have to long of a wait to see if it gets in.

We got an email yesterday saying application is complete, decisions coming out February 13, and “We would also like to confirm your application term(s) and your interest in the Seminole Pathways programs” (He is not interested in Pathways and his email shows that he said that he was not interested in his application). If he wants to change any those things one way or the other it says to update them by February 1.

same here. Less than a month!

We got the same email yesterday, can someone explain how Seminole pathways program works for OOS students and does anyone know when FSU summer typically starts and how much it helps increase their chances for admission?

same. my S25 is not interested in doing a summer start so we will just roll the dice. If it were his 1st choice I would try to push it.

We got the same email. I’m hoping everyone was sent the same thing

S21 did the First Year Abroad, FYA, it was an amazing experience and made great friends including his roommates
He did Fall/Spring Semesters in Florence Italy and then moved to Valencia Spain for the Summer. Returning to Tallahassee for the start of his sophomore year

Being OOS if you complete the FYA program with a 3.0 GPA you receive instate tuition for the remainder of your undergraduate degree.

Also, you do not have to be a pathway student to do FYA, any student can apply to it
If you have questions about the program you can DM me

They also offer a First Semester Abroad where you would start in Tally after Christmas break.
S21 had friends in this and they tried to extend to do the whole year some were able to extend their Student Visas some couldn’t.

How much easier is summer acceptance? We are out of state. DD stats are 34 superscore, 4.62/3.83, 9 APs and decent EC no leadership. She doesn’t want summer start.

Historically Summer admits have been able to get an acceptance with slightly lower stats
However, all Florida Publics require a summer semester.
There are waivers and internships and study abroad count as well

Summer is a great time to start you can take 2 classes 6 credits and get familiar with the campus and college life before everyone returns in the fall

You shouldn’t have to worry about summer acceptance with those numbers and will likely get a waiver.

Looks like the portal was updated today. Things are getting close. (Scratch that - it just looks different on my work PC vs macbook) OOS S25 was admitted to UF on Friday but he’s hoping for FSU - even though he hasn’t seen either campus

FSU admissions just posted on their Instagram that all students with an active application are encouraged to update their SSAR and submit fall grades. Is this a “must” do? S25 got a 4.5 GPA but a B in Calc AB. I don’t see an email to him so only know about this because I’m following the Instagram page. Thoughts?

We updated our DD because she had 3 B’s her junior year but only one senior year (in AP Stat) So we felt putting all A’s and one B was fine. Especially for FSU. I think a B in Calc BC is totally fine and would look weird NOT to update it. Then they might think he had C’s!

sorry in Calc AB- still fine. Is that his only B?

Thanks. Makes sense. We updated it, but it doesn’t look like FSU has retrieved it - or at least it’s not showing as updated in the checklist. He had a B+ in Biology sophomore year. He’s taken 13 AP/DE classes. He thinks FSU is his #1 (haven’t seen UF yet either he was accepted last week) so I’m crossing everything for an acceptance.
