We are OOS my son received the email. Hoping it didn’t give false hope to people!
Wishing her the best of luck!! We were very fortunate to get an EA acceptance.
Same here. FSU results at 4pm and then Clemson results at 6pm (S24 was deferred).
Agreed. My D24 is my youngest and she spent a lot of time and energy researching schools and has a good sense of what is the right fit for her. She removed UF from her list and only applied to FSU.
Out of curiosity - what didn’t she like about UF?
Business major, the overall vibe is competitive at UF. it is obvious during tours, orientation, classes, etc. When we toured FSU it was so different and much more supportive than what we’ve experienced 2 years at UF.
Last year a similar snafu happened for UF admissions, and there were students who received a similar email from UF a week before decisions and did not get in. My memory is that FSU admitted last year that everyone who got this kind of email on the day decisions were supposed to be released had gotten in. But UF always said it was a tech thing – a different department and they had not even uploaded admissions decisions year, and it came out the day after the FSU emails, but UF decisions were still a week or so away. UF was clear that there was not a link between the early gatorlink email and admissions decisions. And people did post that their kids got the Gatorlink email but did not get in. So maybe that’s the confusion?
Although we didn’t tour UF, the environment at FSU in the College of Business is very supportive.
Yes - that makes sense and I think that does explain it.
Clemson has a compact campus like FSU, where UF is more wide spread like PSU. Enrollment wise UF and FSU are similar enough, it’s more the layout of the campus that is the difference for my daughter. My son has to use an electric scooter at UF to get around. He lives right by the business school and to go eat at his fraternity it is 1.5 miles away which is almost the middle of campus, so he usually takes his scooter. SW rec center is even further on the opposite side of where he lives and rarely goes there.
She’s very good at researching and getting a feel for what she likes. It’s more of a vibe she gets from the students and the collaborative environment. My S22 was very interested in both UF and FSU so we visited and I just really fell in love with FSU (he did not choose either), so I may have influenced her a bit. It just feels more like her.
Did any other parents receive an email last night from FSU about “Supporting your Student through this week”, where they provided links to posts about being supportive through this “stressful and anxiety-filled process”?? This doesn’t sound like an email preparing us for good news…
They send that to everyone, my daughter got it before EA and got in with an additional scholarship
Oh Whew!!! That’s great to hear!
I believe several on here got both emails, the “Supporting your Student” and “Orientation”…
My son was accepted but there is a catch. As a Canadian he can apply and maybe get a Tuition Waiver exemption which allows him to pay in-state tuition. This makes or breaks his decision to accept. The catch is he won’t know if he gets this exemption until June (earliest) (this is through the Florida Canada Linkage Institute). Has anyone had to navigate something similar where thye wont know if they get the funds until late? I mean there are deposits that have to be made.
Does anyone know if the OOS tuition waiver will be stated in the acceptance letter?
Got in with oos tuition waiver!
Yes they said it will be noted what merit scholarships are included. That’s going to be my daughter’s deciding factor.
