^^ Really. Despite the seemingly confusing testimony, I think the witnesses are doing their best to recall that night’s events as accurately as they can.

“riprorin is it your position that young black men should expect that as they go about their normal daily activities they will be followed and be willing to accept that?”

Martin was in a gated community which I believe that he improperly entered.

In spite of the 911 tape which was doctored by NBC News to make Zimmerman look like a racist, Zimmerman was alerted by Martin’s suspicious behavior, not his race.

“Martin was in a gated community which I believe that he improperly entered.”

wait, what??

and what exactly was TM’s “suspicious behavior” pray tell??

just wondering…what does riprorin mean?

Actually I think GZ would have acted the same. Remember TM was wearing a hoodie and it was dark so I don’t think he could tell he was black until the fight.

The story used to be that Zimmerman was beating up Martin and Martin was crying for help. Jonathan Good pretty much shot that down. Now the claims are either:
Martin was justified in beating up Zimmerman because he was following him
Martin wasn’t beating him that badly. Zimmerman only got some owies and didn’t need to shoot him.
Zimmerman still attacked Martin first but Martin got the upper hand.

Only thing is there’s no proof of any of this. Zimmerman’s own doctor (a prosecution witness!) said that his injuries could have been caused by being pummelled into concrete. Where’s the proof beyond a reasonable doubt that zimmerman’s story is untrue?

Umm… Riprorin I don’t think he was there illegally he was visiting the grilfriend of his dad who was at the time married to someone else.

^there ya go, let’s see who else in the deceased victim’s family we can malign.

I’m not maligning anyone. I’m just stating the fact. The step mother was on the news recently. She has been pushed to side. Even though she helped raise TM since he was 3 years old. I feel sorry for her.

*physician’s assistant. Does that make a big difference?

MG–but why mention that the father’s gf was still married to someone else? seriously. why?

Zimmerman called the Sanford Police Department to report Martin’s behavior as suspicious, stating “This guy looks like he’s up to no good, or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about” and “looking at all the houses”

Nothing to do with race, even though that’s what many want it to be about.

^ About thirty pages back, posters suggested that the verdict might come down to whether jurors believed GZ had a REASONABLE belief that his life was in danger. Two scratches on the back of his head and a broken nose don’t add up to REASONABLE for some people. For others, it obviously does. (This of course ASSUMES that TM inflicted the injuries. That discussion was perhaps twenty pages back.)

“Umm… Riprorin I don’t think he was there illegally he was visiting the grilfriend of his dad who was at the time married to someone else.”

I thought that I read that he didn’t enter the gated community through the proper entrance, but I could be wrong on that.

Observation, documentation, and reporting. Confronting suspected criminals is NOT in the charter of any NW I have ever heard of.

These don’t look like “scratches” to me.

NewHope, they weren’t scratches, they were lacerations. Lacerations are caused by blunt force trauma. The endless downplaying of his injuries from the very beginning of this case has been very troubling. Here’s an expert talking about how his injuries would make most reasonable people fear for their life.

[Forensics in the Zimmerman trial ? Anderson Cooper 360 - CNN.com Blogs](http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2013/06/28/forensics-in-the-zimmerman-trial/?hpt=ac_bn3)

The father was married to someone else not the GF. At least that’s what I got out of the interview I saw…However perhaps I’m wrong. As far as why? Because otherwise people might be confused as to who TM was actually visiting.

"I thought that I read that he didn’t enter the gated community through the proper entrance, but I could be wrong on that. "

There is nothing illegal about not entering through the main gate. I believe it is a path that a lot of people use to get to the 7-11 and back. Like the other poster said, I wish you stop finding a misleading and untrue slant that makes TM looks bad. Just stick with the facts.

“NewHope, they weren’t scratches, they were lacerations.”

Fine, let’s go with “lacerations that required no medical treatment.” (I’m tempted to add “Mommy Mommy, Billy scraped me with a stick so I shot him to death” … but I’ve been warned to cool it with the sarcasm.)

Zimmerman’s injuries were consistent with being struck once or twice in a fight, not with being pummelled or strangled. Zimmerman claimed that he was simultaneously being pummelled or smothered by Martin, but he could not have been shouting continuously if he was being smothered – so either Zimmerman was lying about being smothered or the person doing all the shouting on the audiotape is Martin. Zimmerman’s account of the actual shooting is implausible and probably physically impossible: he claims that he somehow managed to reach his gun while Martin was sitting on top of him, repeatedly banging his head on the concrete and smothering him, and then managed to shoot Martin in the heart (rather than in the groin or abdomen which seems to be the more likely outcome if with a gun that needed to be retrieved from his waist area). He also claimed that upon being shot, Martin sat up and said something like “you got me” – and then apparently managed to fall face down away from him on the grass.

A plausible scenario is that Zimmerman & Martin had a verbal confrontation that escalated into a physical one, and that Zimmerman at some point pulled out his gun and fired in rage - and then needed to come up with a story to exonerate himself. Perhaps Martin was on top of Zimmerman when Good saw them, and then Zimmerman got the upper hand in the fight, rolled over to a position where Martin was flat on the ground under him, then pulled his gun out, shot Martin, and then rolled Martin’s body over so that it was face down – and that’s when Selma Mora saw him.

I think the jury is going to end up paying very close attention to the physical evidence related to the shooting itself. If they believe that it is possible for events to have transpired the way that Zimmerman claims, then they are likely to vote to acquit. If not, then I think they are going to view Zimmerman’s self-serving attempt to exculpate himself very critically, and are more likely to convict. Zimmerman might have been better off to claim that there was a struggle over the gun and that it went off in the course of the struggle rather than to put himself in a position where he would have not been able to even get hold of the gun, much less aim and shoot.

We’ll see.

But I think it is very clear from the testimony that there was two-way fight going on, which involved some running and chasing as well as tussling on the ground – and the story Zimmerman has told in the past does not account for that factor. That is also a huge problem for self-defense because if there was an initial encounter at the T, and Martin then tried to run away with Zimmerman pursuing, that will also negate a self-defense claim.
