Too much to mention, but I will tell you the things I miss living here in London:
American style bacon
Buffalo wings
Cheese enchiladas
A good thick rare steak
Yellow squash
Fresh ripe peaches
Reece’s Pieces
Twizzlers
Warm Tollhouse cookies
Blue Bell or Braum’s ice cream
Yes, the blue cheese sort of melts, sort of stays chunky on the corn on the cob - it’s a flavor/texture EXPLOSION!!! The crunchiness of the sweet corn. The creamy cheese. The salty bacon bits. The burst of sweet/acidic tomato.
I’m going to have to try that combo…in another 5-6 months when the corn is here. Do you think I could take the corn off the cob and make it a nice side ? My husband is goofy about eating it off the cob
Perfectly seared foie gras with a fruit reduction/accompaniment
Lawry’s prime rib and creamed corn
Hodad’s chocolate malt
Fresh picked corn on the cob drenched in butter
OK, just about anything drenched in butter
The bread and cheese topping from French Onion soup, especially if the cheese dripped down the side of the bowl
Brie on a lot of different things
The heart of a medium rare lamp chop with mint sauce
Perfectly cooked medium rare duck with cherry sauce
Ile Flottante
Chocolate truffles
(We’d better revive the Weight Loss for Dummies thread.)
Lobster Tails with drawn butter, Shrimp, Scallops, King Crab Legs
Recently I’ve had a hankering for Kiwi fruit, go figure!
Really good quality chocolate
I am the opposite of @BunsenBurner. I like crab but not enough to do the work. I have a kid who can pick crab for an hour without eating any to get a giant bowl full.
steak
coffee ice cream
cookie dough ice cream
popcorn my H makes
dark chocolate
cheesecake
shrimp cocktail
lobster
the coleslaw my MIL makes
fried chicken
bacon
Such a feast of delights! Some these items are very context dependent.
Thai crab curry
The crab newburgh made by my dad years ago
watermelon
Rocky Road ice cream
perfect mangoes
Those fried oysters on the olympic Penninsula years ago
Chinese garlic eggplant
bulgogi
Tiramisu
CSA corn mid summer
Fried cheese curds at a certain restaurant here in Wisconsin
Hot artichoke Parmesan dip
Don’t worry, @saintfan - I do not care for oysters. They’d be safe from me at the potluck. I do love almost every other type of shellfish, though! Moules frites - yum.
I love crabcakes that I make - jumbo lump crab, fresh corn, green pepper and onion with just a little mayo and panko to hold it all together.
Every time I look at this thread I see something else I like - fried cheese curds are delicious. Those would not be safe.
I love crab cakes but am forever disappointed by them. I am still on the search for a satisfying crab cake. For one thing, there’s never enough. I have almost given up trying to order them.
I guess I should try to make my own. We get lots of crab (self harvested) when we go to the coast in the summer. I should make it a point to try my own crab cakes. Usually I just let my mom and the kids have at it (that effort thing).
Evilness…up thread someone mentioned Rocky Road ice cream. I have such a hankering now!! My gym workout was lame tonight so I can’t even begin to justify going to the store to get some. Or can I…?
