On another thread, Reidmc said “If Beloit were located in the Northeast, it would be Bates.”

Since so much of the focus here is on schools in the Northeast, I thought it would be fun to take off on this idea. So, take a school that’s not in the Northeast, and perhaps not even well known nationally, and say which school in the Northeast you think it would be closest to.

I’ll start with a few (feel free to disagree!!):

If Whitman were in the Northeast, it would be Williams.

If Earlham were in the Northeast, it would be Haverford.

If Pomona were in the Northeast, it would be Amherst.

If Knox College were in the Northeast, it would be Muhlenberg.

If Carleton were in the Northeast, it would be Middlebury.

If Lake Forest were in the Northeast, it would be Franklin and Marshall.

If Lewis & Clark were in the Northeast, it would be Bard.

Duke would be a conglomeration of Dartmouth, COrnell (the sciences) and Yale

Vandy and Tulane have no true counterparts, although Bucknell, Colgate, and Tufts, again come to mind in some ways, but Vandy is unique in some ways, and there is only one New Orleans.
