oh you were comparing Sialkot to Karachi, I thought you were talking about Lahore or Islamabad. Anyway, I still think that the same environment pervades in my school in Karachi that does in your school in Sialkot. Applying to US is generally thought to be a long and expensive process. I am in BSS and many of the kids here are on full scholarships so there’s a general perception that you have to be pretty sound financially to go to the US. Many of the kids probably find the SAT and the SAT 2s a bit too expensive. More than that however, in a shcool where 99% of the students are planning to attend a local uni, you tend to go along with your peers. Thats why I wouldn’t have been seriously disappointed if hadnt gotten into any foreign uni. So many of my friends are planning on going to LUMS next year that I kind of regret I won’t be able to spend my college years with them.

I’m in Islamabad and my guidence councelor totally f-ed up my ED. She had put my school forms and personal forms in one envelop! =/

Although my high school sends a lot of students to really prestigous institutions but still they have no idea about mid-tier colleges or safeties. When asked, they would name LACs like Tufts, Williams, Amherst or Colgate (Which are reaches even for the 2100+ club!).

@talha_adnan…did the counselor send all the documents in the SAME envelope…!!!
well all my documents were faxed by myself…so universities basically had to call to confirm the Data… and really iz amherst a high reach…??..khair which places u applied to???..

@nrmncpr…yeah applying to US iz a tedious job and expensive…minimum a lac tao sirf application fees he mein lag jata hai…and yeah almost all top students in my school are on full scholarships…(includin me!!!..)I am the only frm my school applyin but basically its because others don really care abt applying to USA…so they didnt giv SAT…and some didnt want their A levels to get disturbed so didnt bother applying…as my A levels iz in serious jeopardy now…i don know wht to do abt P3…who else findin it tough??..p1 was a joke!!!..and yeah which place in US did u get into???

borin’ thread! yaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnn

The thing is applying for aid. I didn’t and for that my SAT I 1940 was good enough
and SAT II 2340 was good too along with my other Stats. Though I’m not talking about 'good enough for IVY or Top 2-3 colleges ofcourse. Good enough to get me into State Schools like UCLA and UT-Austin. If you’re looking for aid reappear for the SAT
