I’m sorry to anyone who has read this same question from me multiple times, just ignore it.

Is it possible to get in with an F if it was retaken for an A? Will they abide by the GPA that my school gives them, or will they recalculate it with the F in it?

Is rank more important than GPA? I’m in the top 1 percent right now with the retake counted. Just assume that I’m 1/628. Will that negate the damage of the failed course? Will the relative damage to my application be negligible? Just how much will it hurt?

I think they want people who spend their time usefully and really show dedication beyond being president of like 10 clubs. Look at the accepted thread and you’ll realize that the people with the highest SAT/GPA 's got rejected.

i’m only in the top 20%, but the class is so small and competitive in the best school in the country thankfully Stanford sees more than class rank.

What I really recommend is including a note (there’s space for it in the Additional Information section) and getting your counselor to include a note about why you got the F and how you fixed it, just so that they know. I’m sure it wasn’t your fault, but better safe than sorry!

(Luckily, I’m a science guy, so it’d probably be much worse if they were in Calc and Physics)
