My daughter got into Fordham EA a few years ago and did not get a “likely letter”. So I wouldn’t read too much into it if you don’t get one.
My son applied to Fordham EA. He attended the open house. He came home and raved about it. It is now his first choice. Any idea why some get likely letters and others may not? We live in Georgia. He has a 1410 superscore, 7 APs, 4.12 wGPA, a lot of ECs and volunteer experience. Just curious.
Per the thread from last year’s admittance class, the likely letters were sent to people who were in close proximity to events being held by Fordham’s president so that they could attend them.
We have yet to visit Fordham, but we are planning to. We live somewhat close and will visit on a mild day and combine it with a a walk in the zoo or botanical garden. I am womdering what were a few of the reasons your child loved Fordham?
For me, I loved Fordham because it felt like home. I’ve visited the campus three or four times, and each time I’ve gone, I’ve gotten this feeling in my stomach that I am supposed to be there. I am coming from an all girls Catholic high school, and so the Jesuit traditions/teachings that Fordham wants to instill in their students is something that I value and really wanted in my college experience because I had it and adored it growing up. Fordham also has a lot of amazing opportunities, they have amazing connections/networking for graduating students, and they have amazing internship opportunities, too. Also, I really wanted a university that felt like it was far from home without actually being far. I live in New Jersey, and because Fordham is in New York, it feels like a whole different world, but really it is only an hours drive to my house, which I LOVE because I could easily see my parents but I am also having my own life experiences. These are just a few reasons why I loved Fordham, but overall, the feeling that I got at Fordham was different from any other univs.
Silverpurple asked about why your child loved Fordham.
My son graduated from Fordham in 2016, Rose Hill Campus in the Bronx. He loved the fact that it was a beautiful college campus in the middle of a major city. The buildings on campus are of old world charm, even the newest Gabelli Business School building looks like it was built in the late 1800’s.
All of the sports teams play on campus. Football games are packed, Basketball teams play in the oldest college gymnasium in the United States. Baseball, Softball, Soccer teams etc… all play in the heart of the campus.
There are several places to dine on campus, and Arthur Avenue is literally 2 blocks away. There are Italian Deli’s, Restaurants, Bakeries up and down both sides.
Mid town Manhattan and the Lincoln Center Campus is 20 minutes away. The metro, subway and Fordham Ram Van run all day and night. Yankee stadium is a 5 minute train ride. Broadway, Radio City, Madison Square Garden, Museums, ECT… are a stones throw away.
The education he received was excellent. Caring professors, administrators and university employees from security guards to cafeteria workers were always friendly and helpful. Career services was phenomenal. The internship opportunities were plentiful. Employment opportunities were numerous. He had multiple job offers prior to graduating, as did several of his closest friends.
I can’t say enough good things about Fordham. Feel free to PM me for any specific questions.
My D21 has Fordham on her short list
Good Luck to all the 2024’s in this group
@BmacNJ and @BSAB1022 thank you so much for your insights.
We live on the west coast so a visit is not so simple. So nice to hear your thoughts.
Hey I also applied EA and am anxiously waiting to hear back. I applied to Lincoln Center for International Studies, has anyone heard back yet or know when they are releasing decisions?
According to the website the EA decisions are released on 12/19. But it sounds like they came out a few days early last year. Fingers crossed!
I applied EA only because I recieved a fee waiver and it had no supplements. It is a safety for me but still a great option im looking forward to having!
Forgot to add my stats:
35 on ACT
4.0 unweighted/ 4.76 weighted
taken 6 AP, will have 11 by the time i graduate, have only gotten 4s and 5s
Does anybody know anything about Fordham sending likely letters this year?
From what I read on last year’s thread, they come out any day now, but I think they only go out to people in MA and CT because that’s where the president’s reception takes place
Just keep in mind that not everyone in MA and CT that will be accepted get the likely letters. Both of my older kids were accepted to Fordham and neither one got a likely letter. Could be where we are in MA and the proximity to the reception.
I’m surprised the letters have not gone out. The event in Hartford, CT is exactly 2 weeks from yesterday and Boston 2 weeks from today. Fairfield, CT is “sold out”. Historically, they have sent these emails more than 2 weeks before.

I applied this year into Fordham and it is my dream school. I also got a fee waiver and I applied ED into the Gabelli School. I really am hoping I get in and an nervous for the next few weeks since the scores will come up as well. What are my chances of getting in?
I wonder if maybe they are getting rid of the “likely” letters this year.
FYI - Last year’s EA decisions (not likely letters) came out on December 14th.
I agree with the above- if we don’t get likely letters today, it probably means they have discontinued them.
No likely letter here today, the mail just came.
