Not expecting any likely letters here, but didn’t they go out by email in the past? It does seem weird that no one has posted anything about them but it could just be that no one on these boards has happened to be one of the lucky ones.
Yes, they went out by email last time (my older child got one 3 years ago). And my kid did not get one as of right now, so I’m thinking they are not happening. I’ll update if we get one.
Given how expensive Fordham is, should one be applying if one requires a fee waiver? Are people who do this counting on being offered a full ride?
Some kids, like my hs senior, were emailed unsolicited fee waivers. Who is talking about requiring fee waivers?
Many schools send out fee waivers to students with high academic merit with no relation to financial needs.
It is too bad they don’t invite all folks to the banquets. After visiting, F moved to my son’s first choice, so if he got accepted, we would totally go even though we live in GA. The wait is killing us. Good luck to everyone!
I applied ED to lincoln center and I’m unbelievably nervous ? I honestly don’t have the best stats but I have amazing EC’s and an essay I worked on for two years plus an amazing rec letter so I’m really hoping I get in. Any advice to calm my nerves a little?
Yoga, zen gardening … ?
This is a high stress time of year and it is mentally hard to wait. Know that there is nothing you can do that will change the outcome now. Therefore choose to let those worries go. (don’t worry about things you have no current control over)
I have seen that my D has also become become a clean freak. I think having a spray bottle and a cleaning cloth has helped calm her nerves … so clean the house, you will feel better and your parents will appreciate it.
We will all know soon enough
Yes, Fordham gave my dd20 a fee waiver because she is NMSF.
I received a fee waver and I doubt I’ll even qualify for federal aid. It seems like they send them to get people to apply. Then again, why not apply? There aren’t any supplements and it’s free. No harm no foul.
My D is NMSF and oddly Fordham is one of the few schools where we DIDN’T get a fee waiver.
I will say that the entire application process between app fees, CSS fees, score send fees for ACT/SAT/AP … we start getting nickel and dimed and then it becomes real money
@CrackintoPieces totally agree on the nickel and diming of this process! It seems like all involved are in cahoots to make as much as they can with a $15-$80 fee here, there and everywhere! I never thought that we would spend over $1000 just to apply! What really gets me upset is the College Board - a horrible customer service-less company. Several times we sent SAT scores to schools which they say they never got and I tried to email, call, FB the CB to have them resend for free since I had the receipts but never got any answers. Sorry for the rant.
My son got a fee waiver as well, he is a decent student but no NMSF - I think they are trying to lower their acceptance rate (believe Tulane had been accused of this as well) to make them look more exclusive.
@Momtofourkids An absolute racket, I agree! And don’t get me started on CB between SAT/AP and CSS … And you ask for the scores to be sent and they say 1 week unless you pay for expedited, which still takes 48 hours! … yeah, it’s a button, should be instant.
The $75 app fee for Fordham was a bit steeper than many but we didn’t have a waiver although NMSF … go figure. They also required the CSS for another fee plus the SAT/ACT score sends … I am guessing over $100 just for them.
How about those schools that insist on a paper transcript, embossed, signed and in a sealed envelope mailed in? Which you send and they “don’t receive” and then you send FedEx to make the deadline.
Already told D that if one more school asks for one more CSS related document the answer is no. Not sending anyone anything else, you can go to a school that accepted/gave good merit aid without it.
My goal after this year: Never do the FAFSA/CSS again ever.
My son also received a waiver. He’s a decent student taking AP/honors classes but not a NMSF. Schools are doing this to affect the yield. The more that apply, the “lower” the accepted rate; making them appear more selective. Sending the SAT scores (and having to pay for them after already paying to take the test (multiple times) is a TOTAL racket. The free ones took longer to be delivered and my son ended up not being able to apply EA to a school because they arrived late. Happy to say this is my last kid to apply to college (out of 3) - this process is expensive and stressful!
I have been around this process for about 4 years. Fordham gives tons of fee waivers to rich and poor alike. Their strategy is lots of apps, so they can reject more kids and accept the best quality (and paying) kids. That results in a very low yield, but no one really pays attention to yield.

My daughter got an email today stating that she was being offered admittance for Fall of 2020 (and that other acceptances would be going out later this month?) and invited to the presidents event in CT.
Does anyone know if this invitation goes out to certain students for merit reasons?
This is our first acceptance and child to go to school so just wondering how they choose these students…
Thanks in advance!
The likely letters go out to students close to the areas of the different December receptions.
