A friend last year appealed and got a little extra - like $3k. My youngest has politely declined the offer - even with 18.5k in merit, its still too expensive. Also, the core is extremely inflexible and narrow and not liked by many students. Their AP transfer credits are also very limited compared to other colleges… just another way to make kids take courses they are already advanced in - like a continuation of high school. If you’ve got AP credit in core subjects, its much better to give kids the ability to take courses that interest them, instead of a repeat of science, language, etc…
Are there any priority performance applicants who have heard back yet? On the portal it says by April 1st but I was wondering if we would possibly find out before that.
What is a priority performance applicant applicant?
Those majoring in Theatre/Dance are priority performance
This question is for those who were accepted to Fordham and were notified you got the NMF full tuition gift, did you mark Fordham as your number one choice with the National Merit company?
@silverpurple The Fordham scholarship is for NMSF, not NMF. So, it doesn’t matter if your kid puts them as number 1 choice (at least initially). If it mattered, all the NM kids accepted EA (mine included) would have been out of luck. When your kid decides to go there, then I would think that would be the time to choose them as #1.
I see what you mean, @amsunshine . Hope you have a
weekend.
Hi! Excited to say that I have gotten accepted and I am very happy with my package. Does anyone know of any online chats or groups for prospective '24 students? I’m trying to join as many as I can for the schools I have been accepted to so I can get to know my potential classmates.
Edit: This is in regards to the Rose Hill campus!
@prospective2024 There’s definitely some Fordham Class of 2024 Facebook groups you could check out! I believe the official group is the first result if you search under those terms.
@prospective2024 , did you apply early? We are still awaiting the decision.
I got an email today that I got in, but nothing about any merit aid. Did anyone else get an email today? Does this mean I got no merit aid?
I got an email saying I will receive my decision on the 13th in the afternoon.
D got an email stating she was accepted at Lincoln and it mentioned merit, but no details. Also didn’t mention anything about the Honor’s program, which may be a deciding factor for her, along with the amount of the merit award. D and I both feel like time is now moving in slow motion!
i also got this email. why did we get this email while others got emailed that they were accepted? does that mean we werent accepted
Nope, don’t worry. The emails sent out regarding acceptance were early acceptance notifications/likely letters, and were presumably sent out to a select few applicants who were at the very top of the applicant pool. Not receiving one does not mean you were not admitted.
My son received email today that he was admitted and was awarded the Dean’s List Scholarship. No details on amount.
My D20 received an email tonight from Fordham saying that she was admitted to Lincoln Center and would get a Merit Scholarship but no mention of exact amount. It states an official invite is on its way…anyone have any idea what amount the Merit Scholarships tend to be?
They are various amounts. They are listed on the website. My daughter was awarded one however it does not compete with some others that she has been offered.
Weird. My daughter just got the email saying decisions will be made and sent out with that March date. I wonder why some people are getting acceptance emails today?
I got the acceptance email, but it mentioned nothing about money. Hope that isn’t a bad sign
