I believe the commuter grant was bumped up to 10k for the upcoming year.
Yes, I just called the financial aid office, Metro Grant is 10k per year.
@med7389 @mbrito2019 Hey y’all, the fin aid office requested a couple of materials to verify things-- check your my.fordham page. It was only after I emailed, that they began to review those materials, then I received my package the next day. They didn’t offer me much, there was a 19k gap. But I submitted an appeal and got an additional 10k.
I’m thinking of starting a Fordham Transfer Facebook Page. Anyone interested?
I’d be interested in the Facebook page. And, if anyone has gotten their financial aid package, how generous was it? Any luck appealing?
this just gave me so much more hope thank you!
i also would be interested in joining! definitely a great way of getting everyone together
I would be interested as well!
Where is everyone going, rose hill or LC?
I was told by fin aid that current students are able to apply to scholarships, specific to schools (LC, RL, or the business school).
I’ve asked the dean at LC, but no response yet
How long does it take to hear back after you submit all of your documents for financial aid. Do they give good financial aid. I have gotten good offers at other institutions with dorming and I’m willing to throw that all away just to commute to LC.
@med7389 I would say in a week. However, I was getting a little excited so I send them an email, asking when will i know my aid. I emailed on a thurs, they reply the next day and said Monday, but I got an email to check my fin portal that friday.
Sadly, they are known for not giving enough aid. I believe they are need-aware. So depending on your parents income, determines the COA. If I may ask, how much does your parents make?
I’m also a cc student but I didn’t get 3.7gpa or whatever their high achieving standard is, so I didn’t get the PTK scholarship, which is 10k per year.
my parents don’t make much at all, if anything I’m very much a part of a low income family. I don’t have a specific number but I wanna day below a good amount below 40 thousand a year. My parents came here as immigrants so I’m a first generation hispanic student tryna make it. I got into fordham despite having one very poor semester out of 4 so that puts me below their PTK scholarship as well. But manhattan college and St. John’s University both offered me a total of 33-36k to even live there which would still be expensive for me but I was being offered pretty much half off of the overall tuition to live at their school. I was thinking about using this as leverage when asking for aid
woah so apparently this thread won’t let me post the link but the Facebook group is called “Fordham LC Transfer Fall 2020” looking forward to meeting you guys!
@med7389 Did you select HEOP when you were completing your application? NY State would have covered your time at Fordham.
I also got a pretty generous fin aid package from another private school, but I didn’t ask them to match. I just explained my family’s financial situation, how, ofc, covid reduce our finance, and just listed out our expanses for them.
Good luck! Based on your fin needs, I think they will fulfill your request.
Pretty sure HEOP is only for NY residents and I’m coming out of state from NJ. I literally live on the border from NYC and NJ. This puts me in a tough spot because Fordham is my top school and I can’t see myself going anywhere else. So I really hope they are on my side
if y’all end up going let’s connect

Ive been seeing a lot of questions about fin aid. I applied and heard back in March but I only recently committed so I saw this forum. I am a transfer from a city college and my family does not come from money - at all. I received an amazing merit scholarship as well as fin aid which is allowing me to attend. Housing is much more expensive than the tuition but that shouldn’t be as much of an issue for an online semester. Hope this gives anyone hope that even if you don’t come from money or a prestigious school it is totally possible to afford Fordham!
thanks for the hope!! How did you receive merit aid as a transfer?
Is the fall semester going to be online?
