Yes I’m in the same boat. Also trying to figure out if he requires to room and board there.
Btw - Fordham does not guarantee fixed tuition as some schools do and it has been growing about 4-5% annually since my S18 applied in 2017. But they do have a tuition stabilization plan (TSP) option that is essentially a prepayment plan.
It’s hard to imagine putting aside this much money upfront !!! but if you are enrolling at Fordham and can do it, you can avoid likely $10-20k of out of pocket/loans from the large annual increases in tuition (only, not R&B, fees, etc). Clearly not for the faint of heart…
too much anxiety to put all that money up front and risk something going wrong like him not liking it there.
Yeah…probably for people who already have money to throw around. Not sure who those people are….
Lol I wish it were me . Hubby walks around and turns the lights off the rooms no one is in.
Has anyone received an updated financial aid offer from Fordham? Another parent posted that their child received one in the mail yesterday, and it included additional need-based financial aid: Parents of the HS Class of 2024 - #9169 by Snowball2
Yes, my son also received his in the mail yesterday.
Our packet arrived in the mail today but was just a printed version of the PDF brochure we had gotten via email. With the exact same numbers.
Same here (arrived last week). I am hoping/wondering if things will change once they actually have access to FAFSA info.
@Snowball2 and @Vmc1 said they already got their need-based aid.
And I know for sure that my FAFSA wasn’t processed when I got it. Only the CSS.
Yes, but I am aware–just wondering out loud. It seems like they made a point of telling us to get our FAFSA in so I’m hoping maybe work study or a grant.
I emailed financial aid and got this response:
“You will receive an itemized offer of scholarships and grants once we pull in the FAFSA (February).”
I wrote earlier about total aid (see posts in the last couple of weeks) and ended up writing to the financial aid office for clarification. The Dean’s scholarship was included in our offer and we will not receive any more aid, even after our FAFSA is received. Fordham is officially unaffordable for us.
My daughter’s packet arrived in the mail yday. Initially they had mentioned the Dean’s scholarship with 25k a year but now the letter says 38k for the year but doesn’t mention the dean’s scholarship specifically. It just says “total scholarships and grants”. Our out of pocket will be 50k. We haven’t filled fafsa yet.
Has anyone heard anything about the Cunniffe scholarship?
We got the letter also but no change to aid. We are full pay SAI so just the merit award - which is nothing to sneeze at - and no new awards
That’s exactly what our letter was like–I think it said that more financial details would be on the portal.
How receptive is Fordham usually to financial aid appeals? Does anyone know?
An appeal was successful for my kid in getting more merit aid. We uploaded copies of offers from other schools.
