Fordham University Early Action Decisions Fall 2025 Admission

This is the official thread for those applying EA to Fordham University.

List your unweighted GPA, any SAT /ACT scores, and ECs. What majors are you going into?
Ask your questions, the CC community is here to help!

My child is applying for 2025. He has an unweighted of about 3.3, 1300 on his SAT all International baccalaureate DP and he’s taking mostly high-level courses. Trying to get the SAT up to 1400. He won’t be eligible for financial aid, but that just means somebody else will be, which makes me happy! I’m nervous though his GPA is low and that’s partially because he Had undiagnosed ADHD. Since then, he’s been on an upward trajectory He has great Extracurriculars. His counselor wants him to apply early binding decision, but I thought it might be better to wait until his senior grades come out. Any advice would be welcome!

What major will your child be applying to? Some majors (e.g. Gabelli business school majors) are more competitive than others.

Undecided. He’s thinking of teaching, visual arts He probably would not apply to Gabelli, but most of our family worked in investment banking so he’s fairly well-connected and I could see him trying to change Although I don’t think that is particularly easy.

Switching into a Gabelli major can and does happen and isn’t that bad as long as first semester grades are very good. Another option is just to get a Gabelli minor.

I have heard that Fordham’s 5 year integrated teacher education program is strong. You leave with a masters. Fordham’s visual arts major is not particularly strong (as compared to an art school.)

It’s tough because his GPA would have been much higher, but he got sick during finals and they made him come in despite the doctors saying that he was about to be hospitalized. Most of his friends have about a B+ average and that’s considered a great grade at his school. It’s very hard to get a 4.0. In fact, it’s near impossible.

If he is sure Fordham is his #1 choice, I think going ED would be a fine choice. Worst case scenario is that they would defer him to regular decision saying that they want a chance to see his first semester senior year grades before making the final call.

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. He’s also a working actor and has a lot of other extracurriculars that show service to others especially kids. He and I were both victims of Covid, which didn’t help things let me tell you. I couldn’t remember the word for pencil, and he struggled with attention issues For a bit, but it has largely resolved. I appreciate your feedback! I know he’s my child, but he’d make a great asset to the School. He’s a friend of everybody and Is extremely moral if you know what I mean. He’s never caused us one minute of problem. A very respectful kid so we’ve been lucky. I’ve never seen him want to attend any school as much as for him. It’s like he fell in love with it. Your advice helps so much.

He sounds like a great kid. Is he thinking the Rose Hill campus or the Lincoln Center campus? Does he plan to try to continue acting during his college years?

Son applied EA for Fall 2025. 3.61UW/3.7W at end of Junior year. Applied with SATs 1430 (670 Math/760 EBRW). Major is English. From Jesuit HS. EC’s include Eagle Scout, Affinity groups with leadership, school ambassador, Ignatian Global Scholar, political campaign volunteer, part time job, symphonic band member.

From Bay Area but went to both Lincoln Center and Rose Hill open houses last month. He loved the views from Lincoln Center dorms but felt the campus was too small for him. Loved his visit to Rose Hill. Felt a bit intimidated by surrounding neighborhood on the drive in but once we talked to our guide and campus security staff at the open house fair, he felt more at ease.

Any news when Fordham EA decisions can be expected? I know they have mentioned by Dec 20th, but wondering if someone heard of a more specific date?

No, but there used to be three forms available on the portal under FORMS AVAILABLE TO YOU, and one is gone. I don’t remember exactly, but it may have been the form to change desired major. Following other threads, it seems that decisions are soon once the portal starts changing.

Hi there and good luck! Just wanted to ask : did you receive a Fordham identification number (FIDN) and a Fordham email address with this form : initials of first and last name@ fordham.edu? Just curious. Thank you and good luck!!

Yes, during application portal setup I think.

Ok, so it must be something all applicants get?
By the way when do you believe they will release decisions?

Yes, everyone gets the fordham email address.
Not sure of the decision date, waiting with baited breath :grinning:

Di you also get the fordham identification number(FIDN)?

Fordham ID was mentioned in the emails requesting to submit financial aid documents, even though we didnt request any financial aid. So, I guess its’ generated for everyone. Dont see it mentioned on the application portal.
