Forgot to add this into the appeal letter...

The fact that I have been separated from my mom since I was 11. My parents are not divorced, just that they live separately, one in California and one here in South Korea. I don’t recall any hardships from this, but then again, I can’t really compare to determine whether it was bad or good. I never blamed this separation to any troubles in my life and even then I was able to brush them off well. In fact, I’m quite used to this one parent life, indifferent enough that I didn’t even think about this separation as being something “unusual” of my life until I called my mom yesterday…

The appeal was to University of California Berkeley. Should I e-mail them about this? The due date (postmark) was on April 15th, I sent it on the 12th and UCB has confirmed it has my appeal.

I think it’s a good thing that you did NOT include this in your appeal letter. Honestly, so many kids these days are from single family homes that it doesn’t work as an excuse. Don’t include it.

I agree with the above post, including wouldn’t have much difference. If you did not have any hardship from it, why would you include it. Having hardship from it though, is another completely different thing.

Thanks :)
