Yes, an online degree may be an option. Some online schools won’t take people with records; some will. I worked with one student who had to petition to be admitted to his in-state online university due to an expulsion (no criminal record). He had to go through a lot of hoops, write essays, etc., but they eventually accepted him. So someone with this background can’t be picky even about which online college he aims for.

Also - what would need to happen to get him charged with perjury, and what would the ramifications be? Clearly the point of him saying he “never had alcohol until on the Stanford campus” is a boldfaced lie with a lot of proof.

I also find it sadly ironic that the college aspect of this case - only two things - perp was a college student and rape was outside a college frat house - seems to be ameliorating the situation for the perp.
Would the result have been different if the victim was a college student? Will there be any action against Stanford, or not because the victim was not a college student?

I am not sure the story about the photo is accurate. It is difficult to know what exactly happened there. One news source says Turner stood up and took the photo and references the description of someone pointing a cell phone light at the survivor. I read the police report and I thought that individual wandered by while Turner was restrained.
Someone in that group seems to have sent a photo of someone’s breast and someone in the group deleted it. That is all I am clear about here and maybe even some of that isn’t as clear as I think.
What else does your link say? Something about Brock not being allowed on campus and no longer eligible to sign up for any classes in the future?

After reading what Brock said, if Brock wasn’t caught, he would have raped again. I base this on Brock’s blame of alcohol and the party scenes as the contributers to the crime.
So…if Brock wasn’t caught, he would have continued drinking and partying. Because alcohol was the blame for the crime, after drinking again, Brock would have raped again. He would have kept raping over and over because alcohol was the contributing factor to his raping.

Makes me wonder if these girls are ever targeted with roofies by frat boys and fall into the hands of other predators and/or drunk men who don’t expect their night’s hookup to go unconscious while making out…

Someone upthread said that Santa Clara County does not routinely check for date rape drugs in toxicology screenings. She may not have been tested. Her BAC was high. It is very difficult to contemplate randon drugging at a frat party. The level of depravity required to participate in that kind of activity is stomach churning.

The UVA murder has no similarity to this at all. Courtney Love, I believe, was the victim. They were in a relationship that she had broken off and he came to her apartment and they had a fight. He was extremely out of control and she died as a result of him hitting and shaking her. He was a rich lacrosse player.

Actually, the lacrosse player murdered by George Huguely is Yeardley Love. But the other victim was Hannah Graham I think. Did she go to a frat party?

I don’t know. Again, I’m not excusing him one bit, but the bit about the photo - if it’s true - seems so minor IN COMPARISON to the assault. It’s like saying “and further, he littered!” Ok, not good, but can we focus on the big issue? I find that bringing in all these side issues (and I bet he once failed to return a library book on time, too) misses the bigger point of focus, which is - what do we do to prevent this in the future?

Courtney Love was the wife of the late Kurt Cobain! Yeardley Love was the lax player girlfriend. Then there was the other awful murder, of Hannah Graham at UVA a year or so ago. (different scenario- but involved a girl out at a bar at UVA)

- during investigation boy applied to TRANSFER to Univ. of Michigan-Ann Arbor
- boy kicked out of MSU
- boy was already accepted as transfer U-M, where he ended up graduating from
- all he had to do was not check the boxes about being under discipline investigation
- MSU later grants boy permission to return to MSU campus to watch his brother graduate
