Frat depledged me because I had an exam to study for instead of going to pledging that night

hey everyone,
So basically I was pledging this local fraternity at my school and I really did want to go through with it because I really did feel that they were different from other fraternities. I kept telling my pledge master that midterm week was critical for me and he understood and I gave all of the brothers at least a weeks notice that I might not be able to make it one or two nights during midterms week. My pledge master initially was going to let me take the night off to study for my exam but the other brothers gave him a hard time about it. When I had to study for an exam for one of my classes that was 30% of my grade they said I had to come to the pledging activity that night or they would depledge me. I told them I really couldn’t make it because I couldn’t afford to mess up on this exam and as a result they depledged me. I didn’t really care too much for the hazing either. I’ve just gotten to an age where I refuse to bend over for anyone to be accepted. This has basically opened up my negative viewpoints towards fraternities and greek life again as to how you “pay for your friends” and that they don’t seem to prioritize school too much and I’m not sure how to feel about all this. what are everyone else’s thoughts on this situation?
