Freshman Scheduling Help?!!?

Hi! So i am starting high school in August, and i want to change some of my classes. So far, i have:
Spanish 2 honors
AP Calculus
AP Bio
English 1 honors
Anatomy and physiology health sciences 1

I need two other classes to take, should I take AP microencomics and AP computer sciences, or should I use it for two EC periods like study hall or Phy Ed? Please Help.

I generally like to have one study hall a year if possible, so I would say take a study hall and then one of the APs. Then again I’m not sure how difficult/time intensive AP Micro and AP Comp Sci are, but I do know that, at least at my school, AP Bio and AP Calc are a lot of work. If you think you could handle one more AP on top of that, including your 2 honors classes, then I say go for it. But it’s all up to you and what you think you can handle.

You need a history or social studies so AP Micro. Take AP CS sometime in your high school career though, it’s a great class.

I agree with @snowfairy137 in that you need a history class. IMO any AP Economics class is a social studies elective/extra class that is taken in addition to a history class. I suggest taking a class that involves history, and if you have an extra slot, take AP Micro. Unless if you enjoy Phys Ed or if your school requires it, I don’t suggest taking Phys Ed.

Study halls aren’t usually used for productivity at my school, so unless if you have extremely time consuming ECs (like dance for 5 hours a day or something), don’t take a study hall. @Marg512 is right about AP Bio and AP Calc being a lot of work, but if you are hardworking, an extra 40-60 minutes of study hall isn’t going to make a huge difference. Use those slots to take classes of your interest, like art, music, or one of the APs you mentioned.

If your middle school workload was light (like my middle school), then it might be better to ease your way into rigor, and not take any additional APs other than Calc and Bio.

What’s your middle school background?

Have you already taken precalculus, high school biology, and high school chemistry? What grades did you get?

Will you be involved in a sport at any level?

In any case you need a historybor geography class.

Keep in mind that as Stanford puts it, it’s not a fame of who has the most AP s wins.

I understand that. I have taken Pre-calc, which was really easy and it was fun in the class. I have taken biology honors and chemistry honors, and I passed all classes with an A. I am not that good at sports, but I am okay in volleyball and tennis, so I might be involved in some. @MYOS1634

Your are sol lucky? My school only offers a max of 3 honors freshmen year and no AP’s and only 1 AP sophmore year

Depends on what you are genuinely interested in… if you do end up doing sports and would enjoy PE, then take that. If you enjoy economics or a similar subject, then take that. I concur with @raventhemage, at my school as well study halls are viewed as unproductive (and from what I understand admissions sees it that way as well, unless you are taking an ungodly difficult course load).

Talk to your Guidance Counselor. Clearly you are very advanced in some areas.
You should not take two study halls you should take a history/social study and phys ed or whatever your HS requirements are.

You need some sort of social studies class, so I’d take Micro. You’ll need a physical education credit so knock Phys Ed out of the way, too.

Wait, if I need a social studies class, should I take Aice International History? It’s this University of Cambridge program in Florida. Is it worth it? Should I do it as a freshman?

It’s very difficult. If you feel up to it, AICE classes are very worth it.

Look at your district’s graduation requirements and start thinking about getting things like health and PE out of the way. It looks really good if your transcript steadily increases in difficulty, because it shows you are willing to work harder, plus it allows you to settle in a bit to bigger workloads.
