It could also be that the friend prefers BU and is afraid to admit it to the OP who is so excited about UNCW. We will never know and it really doesn’t matter.
@Hunt EXACTLY. You hit the nail right on the head. He confided in me because he and I have been friends for a while, ever since he said he and I would be attending UNCW together. He’s a very ambitious young man, but he wants to go to a school where he will be happiest at.
@HRSMom fair enough. I did always think that saying “it’s none of your business”, especially when he TOLD me that his dad didn’t want him to go to UNCW after all, was incredibly harsh.
So, he just told me that he’ll probably end up at BU. He says that he feels that he may resent his family so much more now; being that I myself could have been forced to attend another school just for the sake of staying close to home (we’re talking schools that aren’t even as good as UNCW in my case), I completely empathize with him. He will have to change his FB school info from UNCW to BU, and he would just say that his circumstances changed due to family issues if asked. He is VERY motivated to succeed, no matter which school he attends. I did say that we could meet up during this summer and on other breaks. I also suggested that he may transfer to UNCW if he doesn’t like it at BU, but that was the best advice I could give. Despite the circumstances surrounding it, I’m sure that he’ll do great things at BU, and I wish him well.
I think that’s a good note on which to close the thread.
