I have a bunch of friends who’ll be going to school in NYC and other places nearby.

How often can/do you have your friends visit you? What do they do when you have class?

And Is it difficult to have them over near vacation time b/c of last-minute work (that seems to be when most of my friends would be able to come if their classes don’t overlap with mine).

I don’t have friends come here very often because there’s nothing to do in Princeton (apart from sneaking them into an eating club). I’d strongly recommend that you go visit them in New York. I never had friends visit when I had class, but I guess they could have gone shopping on Nassau St. or seen a movie. DO NOT have your friends come right before fall or spring break starts. You will be in the middle of your midterms and will not have any time to entertain them.

There are no dorm monitors and no where to check guests in. In the guidelines, they say that you can have guests stay for some reasonable amount of time, as long as it is ok with roommates.

The campus is nice to walk around and the town is quaint, but as weasel said, there isnt much else to do.
