It’s cold here in Michigan, but it’s not as cold as it sometimes is. A few years ago, I recall my car thermometer showing -13 as I drove to work. It was in the single digits today, with wind chill well below zero. All the local schools are closing tomorrow & Wednesday due to the anticipated wind chill … which of course has prompted my old lady grumbling about walking to and from school in worse weather, including home & back for lunch … in a dress with snow pants underneath (and bread bags on my feet under my boots). Okay, I’m jealous!

We are in the panhandle, getting away from the cold -
! Two weeks at different Florida state parks - we are currently in Santa Rosa county where people are seriously panicking because they are expecting 3-6 inches of snow - most ever was 4 inches back in 1993. Yes we are slightly disappointed that it is 37
degrees out right now, but we’re making the best of it!
Here in central Iowa the schools are calling a 2 hour delay tomorrow only. It will feel like between -30 and -40. Today’s high was 1 degree, tomorrow may get to 11 or 12 before windchills are accounted for.
Currently 20 feels like 13 here in southern VA. Will be around 15* feels like 5-8 tomorrow for my run at oh dark thirty. I might finally break out the full length tights.
DC/Balt metro area here. It was 28 degrees this afternoon with a wind chill in the teens. We still have snow and ice on the ground from the storm two weeks ago, then yesterday had freezing rain and a dusting of snow which made the roads icy.
Dh and I drove about 30 mins north today to do some car shopping and it was flurrying. Some suburbs north of DC, west of Baltimore actually got a couple of inches unexpectedly.
Just took my dog out and it is currently 19. Only supposed to be 14 tomorrow morning when I leave for work. I actually don’t mind the cold as long as it’s not windy.
Here’s something you don’t see everyday…a family member lives in Corpus Christi… they have a Winter Storm Warning! ![]()
It’s been dipping below zero at night. Today the sunshine was nice, but temp stayed in single digits. We did get a few more inches of snow, which is unusual in the deep cold snaps.
I am quite thankful to have a garage, with good insulation (included a heated bedroom above it). On Sunday when driving to church the car thermometer for external temp said 28 when I left. Then it kept creeping down as I drove. About 10 minutes later when I parked it said -2.
Where I am, the worst was today. I went out and got a pond pump to keep the water moving and from freezing for a small pond in my yard where deer and birds come for water. Not sure if the pump is powerful enough to keep it from freezing. Ice is encroaching close to the pump last I checked.
We expected a delay too, but they cancled for the whole day. Some Community College campuses are closed for the day, too. It’s fairly normal to have an arctic blast with windchill at -35 to - 45 for a few days each winter. Can’t have kids walking to school or waiting ourside for buses on those days.
For us the unusual is a lack of snow. Normal is 3-4 feet with about a foot just in January. After a dry fall, everyone was hoping for a snowy winter to help catch up before spring but all the majors storms have been too far south.
We’ve been hiding out at our beach house in SC since before Christmas. It’s been colder than usual here for WEEKS. It’s time to head back to the real world in CT. We’re heading north tomorrow morning to thread the weather needle. Snowfall predicted here tomorrow night ( yikes, the locals are going crazy!), but we’re headed back to frigid arctic temps in the north. And evidently we got 8" of snow at our house yesterday. Joy. ![]()
Are you Charlie from Charlie’s Angels ?
Nashville was 9 degrees when I went to the gym this Am but got up to 23.
Yesterday had a tiny flurry. A few weeks ago 3 inches.
My colleague from Colorado sent this in the AM.
@JustaMom5465 it’s 7 degrees here with a high tomorrow of a balmy…15, I think. You might want to reconsider a trip north!
Same weather as @cinnamon1212 and @thumper1 . Hubby and I went snowshoeing in the woods behind our new house. We followed some bobcat tracks right to a little rocky nook where my cat likes to explore. We startled a big herd of deer. It was sunny with blue skies. I cleaned the snow off my car and sanded the driveway. We both worked at home. We ate cookies and “made” leftovers for dinner. We played backgammon and I won. We haven’t watched tv. Pretty good for a freezing cold day.
70 degrees in SoCal, but we still have this pesky fire thingy…
Brrrr, stay warm folks! Sounds like good times to stay indoors and out of the windchill.
Southern CA. Sunny, with high in mid 60s today. Many people were outside, with the day off from work. Temperatures are expected to reach upper 70s later this week. I’m planning to take advantage of the warm weather with a trip to dog beach and a trip to a Mt San Jacinto, which would typically be too cold to visit in winter. I’m hoping to see some snow in the mountain trip, although I expect it’s less than what others here are used to. An example recent picture from near the 11,000ft peak is below.
However, temperatures at night can be cold. Night time lows have been in the 40s for much of the past week. My area hasn’t had any significant rainfall since April 15th (more than 9 months), which is unusual. I can’t recall ever having no significant rain in both December and January.
That display is so cool!
