From college prep HS to IVY leauge? Can it be done?

IM at a college prep high school as a freshman. Help! Stress and Drama (friends and in genreal) are weighing me down and my grades are dropping!

It does not matter what school you came from. You can go to an Ivy league.

Uhh, that’s not a result of the type of your school; there’s drama everywhere…

Learn how to deal with it, or even better, learn how to prevent/avoid it.

But the thing is in other (easier) schools the drama would be less likely impact gpa.

You’re not going to harvard if freshman year is hard for you.

any hs in genreal can produce ivy leaguers

Just because a school is “easier” does not mean drama doesn’t hamper some peoples’ abilities to succeed. Kids at my school have pregnant little sisters and brothers in gangs. That is the kind of drama that will effect grades. So if that’s not what you’re talking about stop whining, stop fighting with your friends, and learn to prioritize schoolwork over other things.

If you do have something that’s really tough to deal with, talk to someone! Guidance counselors exist for a reason. They will help you deal with the stress and then you’ll be able to get your grades back on track. But either way, you just have to learn to put school first despite your drama and stress.

Oh, and you can get into an Ivy from virtually anywhere. I go to a horrible high school for getting kids into good colleges and I got waitlisted at Cornell, my friend got waitlisted at Harvard. If you go to a good school, it will be way easier to get in.

I give this parody thread a 2/10.

However, I will answer.

If being with your friends is not enjoyable, then find new friends.

^ I don’t think this is a parody thread.

Really? It struck me as being to similar to be a coincidence. Though perhaps this is just a new member who saw the other and asked this question in the same format.

It could be… I try not to assume too much.

i assure you this isnt a parody thread i am a new member here and had no idea that thread existed, its how i feel as a freshman in high school and as a sophmore next year they encourage us to start looking for colleges.

Don’t stress, and try your best. (haha that rhymed!)

is anyone available to talk via email or g-chat?
