Have you ever noticed that the automated ads will pick up elements from the text of messages? A fun thing to do is to discuss some odd topic and see how long it takes for an ad relating to it to appear. For example, I would like to talk about llamas, specifically raising llamas, llama wool, and even alpacas. Anybody else want to play?

Yow! It happened already, seconds after I posted the message. I see ads for Roads End Llamas, Peruvian connection, Buy Alpace Products Now, How To Get Free Alpacas, and Alpacas Llamas for Sale.
Anybody want to try something even more arcane?

I have no idea what you’re talking about, but, many years ago, a good friend liked to place telephone prank calls involving llamas. For example, to entertain himself on his lunch break, he would call a pet store, and ask “how much are your llamas”, and when the reply came back that no llamas were in stock, he would respond “how much are they normally, when you have them in stock” and “how long will it take to arrive if I order a blue one”, and so on.

He would also call big box hardware stores to ask if his electric dog polisher was still under warranty, or if the fur-lined sinks were still on sale, etc. It was astonishing how many clerks would actually run around the store to try to get the details on the electric dog polishers, etc.

I’m pretty sure my friend has grown up by now.

Wow, you’re right, I see it - I see there is a way to get totally free alpaca llamas (whatever those are)…

All I see is some cr@p about UK med schools… I’d love to get a llama ad on my screen for a change!

^^ LOLOL now you will get ads about cr@p :)

I only get med school ads, too. I like llamas better. Here is my favorite llama song, and the lyrics would probably drive an ad filter crazy.

Now I don’t see those ads. I now see a University of London ad. How am I going to get my free alpaca? I also want to know if there is someplace I can get a free monkey.

It seems like the ads cycle through. I clicked on this several times, and now I see an ad that doesn’t appear to be a Google ad, but one from CC itself. I think it’s only when the ad is from Google Ads that you get something that is sensitive to the content of the thread; otherwise they appear to be general education and college related ads.

But what about that free monkey?

I may have dashed my hopes of getting a free monkey by mentioning the U. of L. in a prior post. Maybe there is some algorithm that brings their ad to the top if they are mentioned.

binx - that llama song is hysterical…lol.

Binx that is simply hysterical - but what’s even funnier and also very scary is you posted that it’s your “favorite” llama song, implying that you have, what, a collection of such madness??? If so I am very worried about you. LOLOL.

My mama has a llama…really!

And we used to have a wallaby. Right now we have eight axis deer, one boer goat, two miniature goats, and a miniature Bethlehem donkey…oh, and a turkey.

We own a Christmas tree farm and the animals are for our petting zoo at Christmas time.

Maybe the ads only relate to the title of the thread?

I always get med school ads too
I like Llamas- also Lamas ( and Fernando & Lorenzo Lamas
)
THe elementary school I used to attend has a chainlink fence backing a row of residential homes & one of the houses has a pair of Llamas.
We would always go feed them when I took the kids over to visit my mom.

Woo-hoo, I got “Alpacas for Sale” ads!!!

The Llama Song, oh, gosh my kids drove me crazy a couple years ago with that when some CTY kids got them into it.

Don’t forget the Dalai Lama.

While I have been able to get llama and alpaca ads to come up, I have no luck with monkey-related ads, even with a dedicated thread.

But I do see an ad for Alpaca Teddy Bears: “warm the heart of all who touch their incredibly soft alpaca fiber.”

Alpaca makes very nice yarn-
I need 3 sets of hands though to do all the keyboarding- gardening & knitting I would like to do.
Perhaps a monkey could come in handy!

No llama ads (or monkey ads either) for me. But if you google “la-llama” (which is what my guys always called them) you will see YouTube commercials with la-llamas talking in Spanish, of course.

Too many people with way too much time on their hands. :p

The only things cuter than llamas are robo hamsters.
