fundraisers

i am thinking about starting a fundraiser. if anyone has any advice/ideas/insight it would be much appreciated!

it depends, what is the fundraiser for? what are you supporting?

that is the thing - i want to do something global but most things already seem taken up. my first idea was to support cancer, but the relay for life seems to take care of that in my community. also, i was interested in supporting the race for a cure for AIDS, but another organization has got that covered in my community as well.

right now i was thinking about a fundraiser to help the victims of china’s earthquake. but even that seems to be overdone… (meaning that EVERYONE is doing it already)

you should probably find a cause that you feel passionately about before you start randomly fundraising, lol.

most of the causes i feel passionately about are already taken. many people that i know have died of cancer. and my parents are from china, people that they personally knew were killed by the earthquake. i just feel like fundraising for something that already has a lot of support would not be as successful as, say, raising awareness to a little-known cause and making that more public.

I participated in a fundraiser for the Sichuan earthquake, so that would be a good idea, especially since you’re Chinese.

Just join your local Chinese community like I did.
