I think most of you read about my dad referring to auditions as “try outs” and S begging him not to ask anyone “where the try outs are” LOL…this weekend we were lucky enough to have my parents travel with us to Otterbein. They loved loved the school and are so happy S chose Otterbein. Anyway…I have new one. We saw The Full Monty, which was great, my dad referred to intermission as “half time” :)) . He bought himself a Otterbein baseball cap and plans to start following their sports team…I’m sure just an excuse to visit his singing/dancin grandson more often.

Half Time? Ha! How will they fit the marching band and the cheerleaders on stage…?

:)) We gave up on correcting him.

It’s so cute! He is trying… even if the terminology is unfamiliar to him! I think it’s great he bought a ball cap!

Driving onto my boys’ HS campus, we used to joke about the football team having “rehearsals” and how much we liked the color of their “costumes” – everything is relative in the MT world ;)

That is true s has referred to uniforms as costumes lol

With two older brothers, I grew up in a whole family that talked/thought like your Dad. My nephew is getting married on Saturday and my brother told me that he will be wearing a corsage for the occasion! I straightened him out before he could embarrass my sister-in-law at the wedding.

My MT daughter is always referring to my lacrosse daughter’s try’s outs as auditions and the other way around!!! It’s all relative…literally! Love that grandpap called intermission halftime!

I am embarrassed to say that I have called it halftime also. My son, who is 6 years older than my daughter, played football for years, and I have been a big professional football fan since I was 10 (which is a looooong time). I made my faux pas a couple of times about a year ago and my daughter’s glare quickly corrected me! :">

Half Time? Ha! How will they fit the marching band and the cheerleaders on stage…?

What kind of "uniforms would they be wearing to befit a show like “The Full Monty”? For that matter what did he thing of the “uniforms” that are the signature of that show?

My husband calls my son’s jazz shoes “performance shoes” and calls “jazz hands” “stage hands”. He is nonetheless an enthusiastic supporter, so we just roll our eyes and laugh. And yes it is all relative depending on what arena you come from - one of S’s friends is a big athlete and we got used to his calling S’s auditions “tryouts”, but the best was when a mutual friend was applying to boarding schools - when he went up for an interview, the athlete friend said “oh yes, he is trying out for Andover this weekend.” Cracked me up!

@ cptofthehouse - lol! he loved The Fully Monty, the nudity was very tastefully disguised so we knew they were naked but we really couldn’t see them. I do think he was relieved that we weren’t watching my S up there in his birthday “uniform” lol

^
son was grateful too

LOL… we now have our first athlete as my 10 y.o. has started softball. She is the player, and she does it, too! “Mom, when is my next softball rehearsal?” LOL. At the game on Tuesday, I noticed her practicing her MT recital dance in the outfield.

Love it @MTmom2015! That’s a lot better than playing with the dirt or grass that I saw a lot of kids doing in early softball years. And yes, rehearsal/ practice, audition/tryout are commonly misused in our house too, much to my daughter’s disapproval!

My lil guy is hopelessly confused by the influences of his older siblings football and theater lifestyles. He had his first coach pitch baseball game last weekend and cheered with pride after his scored his first “touchdown” and posed for a picture between innings in his new baseball “costume” ;)
