That is so amazing!!!
Many moons ago, I was the oldest child in my family and neither of my parents’ attended college. My parents were extremely concerned about the cost of attending MIT. When they saw how much financial aid I was getting, they were shocked, in a very good way. My tuition was signing the loan form and even getting a little money back for living expenses.
Both of my younger siblings attended college, and it cost my parents more to send them than it did me.
I am ever so grateful to MIT for the assistance they gave me. It is great that one does not have to forgo an MIT education because of cost.
Who is paying for these students / how financed?
It’s in the article above. MIT’s endowment - generous gifts from alumni and friends.
