So… I got my first “we’re going to reject you first and if you can pay the money, we’ll reconsider your decision” letter. I got a couple of these last year too. Sigh… still waiting for an affordable acceptance to a college.
@dancingwriter I’ve never heard of any institution reconsidering their admission decision. Are you sure?
@dancingwriter what which school sent you that letter? I’ve never heard that before.
@viphan @Anduar3 I believe these types of letters are only sent to international students asking for financial aid. It was Knox College. I know of a couple other people here at CC who have gotten this letter from other institutions also.
That’s awful… (Of the institutions to do that, but I’m sure it must feel that way too)… Couldn’t they just send you an acceptance letter and give you a small aid package instead of sending you a letter like that? It may send the same message, but at least it would be an acceptance… Sorry to hear about that but don’t get discouraged! We’re rooting for you too!
That’s really torture. They’re dangling the carrot infront of you and saying it’s yours but you can’t have it. I really don’t understand this whole college admission game. But @LAMuniv is right, we’re rooting for you
My ED result coming out in 5 days! :-&
Yea mine as well, I don’t think anxious can describe how I’m feeling.
So is mine! It seems a lot of schools are releasing their decisions on the 11th… It’s going to be a scary day. Eek!
Good luck to you all!
Vassar still hasn’t told us when they’re releasing their ED I results
@LAMuniv I remember last year when I applied, Vassar emailed the RD applicants around five days before the actual release date. Hopefully, they’ll email you and the other ED applicants soon!
@LAMuniv Maybe that’s a good thing because it stops you from having super anxiety :))
Hello everyone,
I am doing a gap year, obviously, and I need your advice about writing the essay, explaining what I am doing during this year, my reasons and all. Do you think the essay should be a creative one like the personal statement and supplemental essays? Or should it be a simple explanation of: I am doing such, such and such and the gap year has been a great experience that added a lot to me and allowed me to explore my interests?
@ghada95 I did a more to-the-point essay with a concluding sentence like your last sentence - I think that, as long as you get the necessary info out and its not obnoxiously long, doing a creative essay is fine, but I don’t think it will particularly help you and you definitely aren’t expected to do one like that.
Stupid question but I’m too lazy to look back through the thread - are you new here? If so what are you doing? (Also, if you’re new, then welcome!!)
@Ghada95 I did the latter. Welcome to the gap-yearer community!
@Ghada95, I wrote mine a bit creatively but not eccentrically so. Everyone who read said it read like a page from my autobiography lol. I think the key is to tell what you’re been doing and maybe reflect on your time so far
Hnnngg my ED notification date is ~5:00pm Thursday…
@LAMuniv Me too! I’m off from work that day, so I’m gonna need a good distraction…
@LAMuniv Looks like pretty much all of us are getting our ED results on Thursday…
