<p>Hi. So I am just really wondering. Will it be like when we found out we were finalists and get an email and a letter. Or just a letter. Or do they do letter and email for acceptances and just letter for rejections. Help please ?</p>

<p>I have received a full scholarship to a college, if I receive the Gates Scholarship I would like to give that scholarship up so someone else may receive it. There by leaving me with a half scholarship to the college. However, I have read that the Gates Scholarship does not cover Family Contribution. Is it possible for me to use part of that half scholarship towards the Family Contribution amount that Gates will not cover?</p>

<p>I saw on threads from the past that some people called and see if they had a scholar id, has anyone tried to do that?</p>
<p>@desireeA from past threads, I have seen that people said their package was postmarked on April 15th and usually arrived from the 18-20th with a few exceptons. </p>

<p>No, although that is a nice thought, Gates scholarship money is only for you and it will not cover your parent EFC. You cannot use “half of your scholarship” for anything because Gates is not covering your schools scholarships. They will only cover your unmet need, not including your parents. For example, rough numbers, my D’s COA was about $55k per year. All was covered by her school except work study, and Gates covered that. That was her only unmet need. Your parents EFC is not unmet need and won’t be covered.</p>
