<p>I tried it today between classes on the pay phone and it worked. I was welcomed as a scholar. I am going to listen again to hear what else since I had to rush. It is soo comforting. I cannot wait for the letter. What schools or areas are everyone from and what is their first choice school. (Eastern Shore, VA; Johns Hopkins)

<p>I am sorry to hear about that. You should call and check on it. Two days after I had gotten the finalist paper I got one saying I was not selected and I did not send my supporting documents from the finalist round until a week later. (The letter came late but was dated early) I called and they said it was a mistake because I had started the app so early online and stopped doing it and returned to doing it so late. At lot of people start the app early and never finish. Anyway call to be sure</p>

<p>I called the hotline, and it welcomed me as a scholar. I have not received an acceptance or rejection letter yet, I am Latino. Does this mean I’m definetly a scholar?</p>
<p>The same thing happened to me. The hotline said welcome scholar, but i talked to a real person and she said that it didn’t mean anything.</p>

<p>i’m in the middle of a crisis here. the deadline for housing for penn state is may 1st. the reason i am not sending in housing deposit there because i want to know if i get the scholarship or not. the scholarship will determine if i can go there (because if i dont get the gates scholarship i wouldn’t go to penn state). does anyone know when the last day they will stop sending out notifications from gates? i need to know. i cant’ wait!! i have a deadline and that is may 1st!!!</p>
<p>They told me that I should hear back by April 10th since the deadline is tomorrow.</p>
