ooo and you call the GMSP number: 1877690*4677 select choice 2 then choice 2 again when prompted and enter your social and your PIN is your birthday digits like August 5, 1988 would be 080588

oh boy I’m excited.

When I fax, is there a special way that I have to fax it? I’m thinking about the hassle and potential for paper mix-ups on their side when everyone faxes at the same time. Won’t all the papers from different senders be mixed up? They’ll have a hard time organizing everything especially when the documents such as the SAR is 5 pages, and the transcript 2 pages…

Like financial aid offices sometimes request, put your name and ssn on the bottom of every sheet, send a cover letter with a list of every sheet you are sending.

eh…I did something a long those lines. How can I check if they received it?

my SAR was only 3 pages…i did it online tho.

The HTML version of the SAR online is five pages, but only the first three are needed. The other two just mention other things.

wait, can you tell me which parts specifically are needed?

Oh well I was just wondering because UNCF didn’t send me my email. It was from GMSP directly.

me again I was just wondering if I did my FAFSA right. They never sent me a thing saying it was incomplete but on the form it says parents contribution is $0 because my mom didn’t know what to put. Then when I click comments it said, you may possibly qualify for the pell grant with this information. Then it said to put the 2005 tax information on there. Do I have to change our near perfect estimates all over again with the real thing now? I’m so confused.

I haven’t received a formal notice yet!! My nominator told me that she got a notice saying I qualified though. Is there supposed to be a little delay?

I applied for this year and haven’t heard anythnig yet. So do they do semifinalists and finalists? It seems that you all got contacted a long time ago. I live in Houston and have heard nothing yet? Is there still a chance for me? Will they contact by mail or email?

i think if you get to the second phase and you meet all of the requirements, you basically get the scholarship, or that’s what last’s years posts would imply. some kids who apply for gates and then fill out the fafsa afterwards find out they don’t qualify, so probably around half of “second-phase”-ers don’t qualify. and gates doesn’t get your sar, so getting into the second phase doesn’t depend on fafsa stuff.

I live in HOUSTON too! but I don’t think notification is by region I think it’s by Race/Ethnicity… just a guess…

i’m a ‘second-phaser’ also…just wondering, this is a 4 year full ride as in it covers just the tuition or does it cover that and living/personal expenses also?

I doubt it was ever by region.

Did all of you actually receive a notification directly through email?!?!?!

My nominator says I moved on, but I have no formal notification yet. I don’t know what to do…

It was by email to me and CCed to my nominator/recommender.

Strange. I didn’t get anything, and both my nominator/recommender already received word.

important question: On the last page of my SAR it says:

-Comments about your information= basically says i qualify for pell my efc is 3260.

Other information you need to know:
If your parents have now completed their 2005 tax return, correct this SAR to reflect the income and tax information reported on their tax return. Select the make correction button at the bottom of the page to make the correction. If your parents have not yet completed their tax return, you must correct this SAR when they do reflect the income and tax information reported on their tax return.

Ok…so is this normal? Ddi anyone else get the same message?
