oops…hehe…

I thought they didn’t look at SAT or GPA… but idk lol

My GPA is 4.0 unweighted and 4.75 weighted…
And my SAT is 720 math 620 reading and 700 writing.

I think they mostly look at your essays for leadership and community service though… =]

yea, they didn’t ask for sat or gpa. check my threads if you care to look

Yeah, I’m pretty sure I got rejected. Excuse me while I go cry.

so no words for the asians yet, right?

Try to think more be more optimistic you guys. I’m anxious about whether I’ve been accepted or not, but my I find comfort in knowing that I at least did my part in completing this scholarship. Whether we get this scholarship or not, I know we can be proud of the many other achievements we have accomplished and have yet to accomplish thus far.

^i like ur thinking. at least we tried right?

dude, i think that the point is in knowing that you are gonna be there in the future trying to pay off the debts, and itll cost you your friggin left eye :(

i know that while i qualify for the gates millenium, ill still have to pay a lot

RoflcopterSoi - I understand where you’re coming from completely. My EFC is 0…getting scholarships to pay for my college education is not even an option for me, its an obligation. This scholarship would greatly help all of us, but we can’t concentrate solely on the negatives. If we do and get rejected, then what? We still have so many talents and opportunities, so even we do get rejected, why not focus on finding other avenues to aid us in accomplishing our dreams.

thanks for ur optimism simplyray, i wish that this program could help everyone, not just a select number of people :)

wow! - It’s no problem :)

dude, i understand what you are saying. i will probably get into debt at around 90 k with UNDERGRAD, which they say its not worth getting into much debt for. but still, i understand. i just came into this country 6 years ago not knowing what college was, and i already got into cornell and duke, april not even being there yet.

but still dude, itd have been amazing… FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

So my tax return document says my dad makes 60,800 a year, which makes me NOT eligible for pell grants. My EFC was 6045 or something…

But then the thing is that my family has a huuuuuuge amount of debt cuz my dad’s business failed recently.
Like 0.8 million. Not kidding.

So even though his income is not that low, i really need this money.

Is there any way i can explain this to the Gates Foundation? Would they consider my special circumstances? Or would they just base everything on pell grants eligibility?

Thank you!

I want to know if I’m a semi-finalist or not already!

Rhomanticist: I don’t know about the gates foundation but this sounds like something to bring up to the financial aid office of whatever college/university you’re going to attend. Mention these special circumstances to see if they can give you more aid. But some schools are more stingy than others.

wow! – I am Asian and still haven’t heard anything. :/

Okay… I feel so ughhh. Have ANY Asians on here heard from Gates!!!

i’m asian and so far nothing…

that means all asians are rejected!
haha kidding…im asian, and still waiting.

I was just notified!! Got the email at 12pm today :)

^r u asian?
