<p>I’ve been reading a lot in this thread about how the essays and community service/leadership/awards are the main factors that made a person a finalist. Has anyone mentioned the nominators/recommenders? In my opinion, those were as important as the essays. Has anyone actually gotten a copy of what their nominator/recommender sent in to GMS?</p>
<p>last year, the earliest a finalist was notified as a scholar was SIX days from today. </p>

<p>My recommender wrote great things about me. We sat down for a period and filled out the recommender form. I’m sure my counselor rec was phenomenal too.</p>

i called the gmsp line, and they said they have received four of the necessary documents, but then they list 5. so does this mean they’ve received all my stuff?</p>

<p>The message does not say four out of five. its just says four. also although five are required, GMS combines ur GPA form and school profile as one document. so its ok. they have everything.</p>
<p>Ricey…honestly if i were in your position. i would call them up and make sure they really do have everything… if they said they have ‘four of the necessary documents’ then obviously they don’t have everything. if they did. they would have said your stuff is complete…</p>
<p>I was wondering if anyone knows how many finalist do they pick? I have gotten the finalist letter and I am really nervous to know what kind of competition I am against.</p>

<p>On the GMSP website, it says scholars will be notified mid-April</p>
<p>if you go back to last year’s GMS thread, you’ll find that many scholars were notified WAY before that.</p>
<p>Please, no finalists assume when you will be notified. My D wa a finalist (and then a scholar) last year, and the notifications were spread out over several weeks, it did not matter when you sent in your materials were sent in</p>
<p>It seemed to me that the people who turned in their documents early, around March 14, were notified by the end of march, or early april… so I’m just being optimistic and hoping they do things like last year.</p>
