D24 got a phone call just the other day, and another email making sure she has signed onto her portal (she already had) say “Our Early Action decisions are being released soon”. I wonder how soon. Also, I wonder if you find out about Honors College at the same time.

My son got the same. Anything yet?

Nope. I looked at the history of when it has dropped and it ranged from Dec 10 - Dec 12 with the 10th being a Friday and the 12th being a Tuesday. My guess is it will be in the next few days and they will get an email telling them to check.

My son’s portal now says it’s missing his mid-year grades - does this mean they just want to make sure he’s still doing well (enough) this year? (He didn’t do as well his first two years but has been on an upward trajectory) 3.16 gpa but lots of ib classes and 27 ACT

Did he get any sort of letter about his status? In my D24s decision I belive it only said she has to submit final year grades before enrolling.

Nothing in the portal. A friend who’s a college counselor said they want to see his grades before deciding.

In State - Engineering
Accepted - Honors Program
4.27 GPA (weighted)
DE Associates degree (70 credits), all other classes AP / Honors
SAT 1270
Summer job, ECs, volunteer, FRC Robotics
Mason Excellence Award $2k in merit per year

Does anyone know about the opportunities after BS, grad school wise. D is planning on getting her PhD and I am wondering if she has a good projection for a good school for psych after a BS at GMU.

She should get as much undergraduate research experience as possible, in addition to good grades, and GRE scores (if applicable). Getting involved with research early in her undergraduate career will both set her up for applying to programs and will also give her a read on if it’s something she really wants to do (a PhD is a long road compared to masters programs). Ideally she will see what PhD students are doing when she’s an undergraduate. She’ll also be able to evaluate whether she wants an academic degree (PhD) or a clinical degree (like a PsyD). Good research experience from a slightly less prestigious (but still an R1 university) will look better than similar grades with no research experience from a more prestigious institution. By the end of her first semester she should be looking at opportunities for the following summer Psychology | Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Great information and thank you very much.
