Considering, yes! (CLEG looks so interesting). Expensive, yes! (Eek, but not any more than GW.) I really enjoyed AU’s winter admissions event.

Checking out Penn State and Schreyer this week. Son loves DC and may not want such a big and rurally located school, but hoping the honors college is a selling point. Who knows? I’m ready to deposit somewhere. Just not to a school in Paris, lol.

Is there anyone who was offered admission to Harlaxton college at UK in the first semester?

For Honors Program notification: Along the top menu of the portal (on my laptop) is home - track my app - special programs - next steps. It’s under Special Programs.

Thanks! Nothing for us there except the rejection note for the program. :frowning:

me.

I know, you already mentioned about it. Are you thinking of exploring further?

probably not. Purdue is just so much cheaper, better (for engineering), and about the same distance from me. I also dont want to wait a semester at any school

D24 accepted and thrilled! Biophysics major.
Got Presidential Scholarship for $25K/yr up to 5 yrs. Plus optional school loans of $5K/yr. This makes it very competitive at the bottom line with our Calif public schools while GW has much smaller class size.

uwGPA = 3.98; wGPA = 4.32
SAT 1510
9APs; mix of science and humanities subjects
EC: competitive dance team with state & national titles; Peer counseling and other service/ leadership EC.

The scholarship was described in the acceptance letter with a link to the Financial Aid package.

Hmmm. my student’s acceptance had the scholarship information but no link to the financial aid package. We submitted and they have process our CSS.

Same here, maybe its different for each person? I’ll just wait for the self service portal to update…

Not sure where you heard this but it couldn’t be farther from the truth. 80% of AU students are involved in at least one club/community EC. As for the larger University community, it’s almost identical to GW (although one could argue it’s a bit more of a community-forward vibe with the traditional quad campus).

We didn’t see any merit with the offer letter. I am not sure if it’s because of spring semester offer? We’re expecting some need based too as per the npc. Where do we see all that. Nothing was given in the next steps other than accepting the offer for UK by April 15th. They mentioned that we can see more details once the offer is accepted.

Same here. My son has similar stats and no honors college.

We have SO many friends who have done a first semester abroad at many different schools (Tulane, Northeastern, So Cal, FSU) and every single one has said it was the best thing they could’ve ever done. They now have friends across the globe. They traveled to new countries every weekend. They lived in amazing cities (Barcelona, Florence, Paris, Dublin). These types of programs are becoming much more common, and they are incredible at promoting independence and self-confidence in a student. None of our friends’ kids felt left out or lost upon returning to campus. They were put in housing with another freshman who was abroad first semester. Rush/recruitment typically isn’t until Sophomore fall (if that’s something your kiddo is interested in). The maturity gained by going abroad first semester more than makes up for being off campus at the start. These students learn how to talk to anyone, they are risk takers (ā€˜hey, want to hop that 2am train to Rome?’), and they learn about living independently without the possibility (or, possibly, the annoyance) of parents swooping in to try to rescue them whenever a bump in the road arises. And Paris is incredible!!! Find out what other schools will have students at the Paris campus. Classes are usually Mon-Thur so they have 4-day weekends that are conducive to international travel. Think of the stories your kiddo will have! Instant ice-breakers for any future interviews…congratulations & good luck!

A quick read would miss the merit, it wasn’t bold or anything so read closely. If it’s not enclosed with the letter it was probably not awarded, although I also got a separate email with my estimated COA so look for that

We didn’t receive that too. Maybe it’s because she is still not considered as a gwu student? They just mentioned to attend the meeting on Apr 2nd
