Will they give us a decision even if they haven’t processed our financial aid yet?

@ Waaris- you have an exceptional chance. All of the people on here are more academically qualified than me… I am so nervous… AHHHHHHH!!!

GOOD LUCK!! This is making me nuts

whatsmyusername, yes they will! You technically don’t need financial aid to attend. (Although with a $60,000 price tag, you really DO need it! haha)

So they’re supposed to tell us by February 1st, right?? Or can it be after that?
I’M SO ANXIOUS!!!

kber9240, I had a senior interviewee and lucked out but there were a lot of admissions counselors interviewing students. The tone of the interview process: walking into school, being led to the main room to be check in, older men and women coming in to interview new people was very professional… dress appropriately. I think the interview did it for me, that or my teacher recs. I connected well with the interviewer and had more of a conversation that an interview, mainly because we were around the same age. I’m not sure how that fared with students that got paired out with adults (40+). I would strongly recommend an interview, and visiting campus to show interest.

katelynsmith36, your merit scholarship money will be on the physical letter that you receive and the message on the portal when you log on to see your admit/defer/reject message. I am however unsure whether the Financial Aid information will also be in the acceptance packet. For ED1 students, it came a few weeks later depending when you applied. I know I filed it past the December 1st deadline, a full 2 weeks later because I didn’t know we had to file it so early… and they were completely fine with it. You all should have completed the FAFSA as well as the CSS Profile which is through collegeboard. FAFSA is government subsidized Stafford Loans that are capped off at 5500. CSS Profile is the private loans given on a need based not a first-come first-serve at all basis. GWU has a lot of money to give out, make sure you pay the fee from the css profile application to take advantage of it (it’s so worth it). I’d pay $70 to get 35000 in a heartbeat if I had to fill out that thing again (it took me and my parents like 2 hours).

My interviewer was a senior too at GW

GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS- arrives on February 6th (for everyone)

If you can get an interview definitely do it. I interviewed with my regional admissions director and we hit it off really well. It gives them a person behind the numbers, which I think will definitely help me

I wish I could have gotten an interview, but its too late for me. I have February 6th marked on my calendar now, its going to be tough waiting.

Thank you Polisci007! I still have to finish the CSS profile (whoops) but I have done everything else.

But February 6th!? That seems sooooooo much farther away than February 1st
Waiting will be painful haha

I haven’t started the CSS profile. By that I mean my mom hasn’t started the CSS profile

On the website, it said for ED1 the decisions would come out mid-December which is usually strictly December 15. However, they sent out an email the day before to let us know. Decisions came out December 11th at 5pm.

Guys, when you think about it… we have 10 days til’ we know!! (fingers crossed) :D

Haaha i hope so… im just worried because of the major i chose. is my major very competitive??? if you know by any chance, it would be GRFEAT

Shouldn’t be too bad - email your admissions rep and tell them how much you wanna b a colonial -

Top applicants like you can be rejected since your overqualified- GW has a low acceptance rate so show

INTEREST!!!

Best of luck

Sent from my iPhone

I keep hearing that GW will deny overqualified, under-interested (not a word but whatever haha) students in order to protect their yield, but would that really be a problem for Early Decision applicants? Because if they accept you, you have to attend, so interest is already demonstrated, no?

Okay, important question: I just called the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to see if they received my Early Decision agreement. (I tracked it through the post office and saw that it was delivered on Saturday) But the guy said that their office has a 3 - 4 week processing time, so it will show once they process it. But how can I receive my decision on February 6th (only 9 days away) if they don’t process my ED agreement for another month!?!?! What should I do?

Hey everybody!
I’ve been lurking on here for weeks now, and I figured now that we’re getting closer to the response date I might as well actually post something!

Anybody else getting more and more anxious as the days go by?

Also, is anyone auditioning for the scholar of the arts?

Oh and Katelyn, I’d just send a quick email your admissions rep

Katelyn- you are fine…same thing happened to me with my ED1 school… don’t worry, all will fall into place… Does anyone have stats as to the number of applicants they received ed2(and percentage of acceptances)… im so damn curious…
