I’m auditioning for the scholarship of the arts!

Sorry 13all94! Me and my assumptions…

And YAY Natalie! What field are you auditioning in?

Sorry- can everyone post their stats officially 51 hours to go- and I’m mistaken with the fact that ED2 is more qualified- it’s the same however since they took alot ED 1- I think they aren’t going to take too many ed2

Ill start- GPA 3.45 uw- 3.70 w and 27 act- applied to business school and I have a lot of community service and theater and singing are also hooks of mine- essays good from private b school

Anyone else post stats- chance me??? Ill Chance back

Dance. How about you?!

Yes, I imagine that people that will apply next year will want to see our stats so they can see if they have a chance to get in.
Here are mine, basically:
3.75 UW, 4.2 W, top 9% (not great), 2140 SAT, 31 ACT, pres. of a NHS (Spanish), mentoring, student council, and a good amount of community service
Also, I’m a white female, so that puts me at a slight disadvantage.
I thought my essays were good but not spectacular.
However, I am a first-generation college student, so that should sort of help.

Wow katelyn!!! You should be in- and what would you say my chances are- its obviously a reach, but I’m trying to be positive!!!

I applied ED2 also, but I haven’t heard back yet either. Last year I think they heard back the first week of February, so it should be soon!

Vocal music. Do you know about how much is granted to those who receive the scholarship?

3.4 UW, 4.2 W? 2050 SAT, lots of community service, big roles in drama, varsity soccer, varsity track maybe, other extra curriculars, great recs, good essays. It’s a reach I know but I’ve shown a lot of interest so fingers crossed

I think it’s 20k

bibliophielle- we hear Wednesday… less than 48 hrs.

Whatsmyusername-you have such a good GPA and everything, im similar with lots of community service and i’ve been in musical theater my whole life, your test scores are sooo good- yes its a reach for me too (I hope we both get in so I can see you in DC in August)

@everyone else- you are all sooo qualified… honestly, I need to prepare myself to not get upset if its bad news… I know on the inside I will be crying, but I will need to move forward.

GOOD LUCK… I cannot focus on anything… but Wednesday

13all94, I’m sure you’l be fine. As long as you’ve expressed true interest in the school I’m sure you have nothing to worry about. I’ve seen people in the 2.0s get in because they expressed tons of interest in the school. There was even a girl from this years EDI round that was accepted with a 3.3.

treschic8- thanks, I don’t know what to expect… I am so besides myself…

What to do if I don’t get in? What are techniques to deal with the pain, hence I was denied to my ed1 school, and I am nervous becauase I know GW is where i want to spend my 4 years.

I honestly can’t tell you how to handle getting rejected from GW. It’s literally the only place I see myself. However, for the past few days I’ve been preparing myself for rejection rather than acceptance. Like someone said earlier, expect the worst but hope for the best.

13all94- agreed, hopefully we’ll both be in.

Treschic8- I said that I agree I think a lot of interest will resonate with admissions. My friend had very similar stats to me and she got in ED 1

I am trying to do the same but I want to go to GW so badly that I refuse to believe that I won’t be able to! If only mind-power could secure me admission. Haha. I was talking to my dad about it today and he said that I need to mentally prepare myself for not getting in. I don’t sense a lot of hope…

13all94, what did you say your name was again? I have a feeling it is Jack but I don’t want to address you by the wrong name! Haha

I think if you have lots of community service and had great essays, you have a chance!

Did anybody do an overnight or go to any events?

Is anyone else going for English? Or applying to the Dean’s Scholars in Shakespeare special program?

Here are my stats:
GPA - W 3.9
Class Rank - Top 10%
SAT - 2010 (CR 700 Writing 730 Math 580)
ECs - Vice President of Key Club + held officer positions since Sophomore year, President of Latin Club, member of NHS, Stage Manager/or Assistant Stage Manager for the Drama Guild, member of audition-only vocal ensemble
Fairly rigorous classes - 7 APs over Junior & Senior year plus APUSH 1 Sophomore year, four years of Latin and two of Homeric Greek, Honors level in everything applicable except math freshman and junior years

Everyone seems so qualified. I think my Why GW? essay was pretty strong, and my common app free essay was definitely strong + I had fantastic recommendations. Oh, and I interviewed!

Best of luck to all of you!! It’s so cool to be applying to a school along with such talented students!

Katelyn, I am not sure I should be giving my name away on a public forum, but you can pm message me and we can talk there… (thanks for the support btw) I am already starting to get emotional.- p.s. my name isn’t Jack…

New Question: what is everyone’s admission status? mine is ED II freshman “Under Review”; what about everyone else?
