What are my chances at ed1?
Curious if kids with Jewish backgrounds removed GWU from the college list given level of anti-Israel/anti-Jewish activities over there. Daughter went from maybe ED to not applying at all. Very clear that GWU simply not welcoming or safe environment for Jewish students anymore unfortunately. Be interesting to see how that effect enrollment numbers this year, especially current percentage of Jewish students (from ~25% to ?).
While I would have liked to have seen the administration move more swiftly in their disciplinary actions toward those responsible for the projections, I do not believe that anyone actually there would agree that GW is “simply not welcoming or safe” for Jewish students. It has had a significant Jewish population for decades, has a very active Hillel, has Jewish fraternities and a Jewish president. The recent situation was unacceptable, but I would be absolutely shocked if it had a material, long-term impact on applications or the student profile.
Anti-Semitism exposed at GWU goes beyond just the projections on the library - it’s systematic and deeply embedded. Just google it (start with Professor Sheedi + August '23 report from ASMEA, both prior to 10/7 terrorist attacks). Agree that in the long term GWU might be fine, but I’d be surprised if current year applications/yield rates are not noticeably lower. Not a chance that Jewish parents are going to send their kids if perceived as unsafe or downright hostile. To be fair, many colleges have similar problems, but GWU is among the worst offenders.
does anyone know around what date ED for 2024 will come out? the past years its been on a Thursday so could it be the 14th?
We got an email confirming the 14th, but does anyone know what it its been over the past couple years?
Does anyone know when they release EA? Hard to find any clues.
14th at 4:00 PM EST. But I called and they said they would be rolling from 4
The 14th of December….for Early Action or Early Decision?
Early Decision
Good luck. We’re EA so I guess we wait. I just don’t know how long. Lol
What do you mean you are EA? I didn’t think GWU offers EA. It’s not listed as an option on their website?
You are correct. All of her other applications were EA so she submitted GW back in October for regular decision. I was mixed up. Seems like a long wait. I wish they were rolling.
Good luck!
Anyone received an ED acceptance to GW this past week? Can you please share your GPA, SAT, EC, major, what you think helped, etc.? Thanks a lot
I got into the Columbian School of Arts & Sciences.
UW GPA: 3.6
W GPA: 4.5
Dual Credit (42 Credits) GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1340 (superscore)
Major: Political Science
ECs:
I did apply to honors.
Meeting with my regional admissions counselor (although not formally called an interview) did help put a picture to my name, in my opinion. My ECs were pretty strong, and my dual credit experience definitely helped.
Congratulations!
So sorry to ask more questions:
What is dual credit? Did you take classes at GW? in Junior year?
I assume you submitted your SAT?
Did you submit your UW GPA or W GPA?
Did they request the interview or did you ask to meet with them? when?
I did my Dual Credit at UNT, I’m taking them junior and senior year. They just emailed me asking me to schedule a short meet up in my region and I made an appointment. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you want.
congratulations! my daughter is a sophomore at GW, please let me know if I can help answer any questions.
