@transferyas319 what did the admissions director say that made you think waitlist is best case at this point?
Directly from the email my admissions director sent me:
“Your application is currently under review by the admissions committee. Initial review by the committee indicates that your application for transfer admission will, at best, result in an offer of a waiting list spot. From an applicant pool of over 2,100 transfer candidates, the Admissions Committee will only be able to offer admission to approximately 11% of all transfer candidates.”
But once again this could just specifically be for my case.
wow 11% is insane
exactly. honestly i am bummed out, but i’m also keeping in mind that i have two great other options to decide between and they only accepted around 230 applicants.
@transferyas319 if you don’t mind - what are your stats & what schools are you deciding between (congrats btw)?
has really no one heard anything from admissions this week?? this is getting ridiculous!
Deciding between Boston University and Boston College.
Stats:
Highschool:
-GPA: (from what I remember) around a 3.7/5.0 scale (I was top 18% of my class and primarily took honors and AP courses)
-Leadership positions: Student Body President, NHS Treasurer, Speech and Debate Co-President (also a captain for 3 years), Co-founder and VP of French Club
-ACT: 30
-Activities: Speech and Debate (all four years), student council (all four years), NHS (sophomore-senior year), French Club (junior-senior year), theatre (junior-senior year)
-Honors: two time speech and debate state finalist, speech and debate national octafinalist, district champion in speech and debate, Glory of Missouri Award recipient, school pride award recipient
My Common App essay talks about my experiences growing up as an Arab-American in a post-9/11 world and how I’ve used my negative experiences to help shape me as an individual and were influential in my social activism and involvement in my community.
College:
-GPA: 3.8 (I took 15 credits my first semester)
-Activities: Student government, leadership program, social justice clubs/orgs (I won’t name them since they have my university’s name in them).
-I’ve been heavily involved in speaking out on social justice issues that have risen on campus, nation wide, and globally. Several articles have been published quoting my statements and activism.
Congrats @transferyas319!! I got into BC as well! We might meet each other if you enroll next semester at BC. I got waitlisted at Brown, so I’m still waiting on them and from Georgetown… let’s hope for the best, and congratulations again on your acceptance to BU and BC!
Awesome and thanks so much! Best of luck on both Brown and Georgetown (hoping you get off the waitlist at Brown or get accepted to Georgetown!)
@princesstransfer since you’ve been on here a while - when does georgetown usually release acceptances during the week? days + times?
@cckittycat usually 5:3-6:30 PM EST
@princesstransfer tues/thurs? or everyday of the week
I got my acceptance on Thursday May 7th at 4:26pm. That was for the SFS.
I seriously think you guys have at least two more waves of acceptances. From what I’ve seen, I believe only 40-60 have been accepted so far.
Are we supposed to get email acceptances or mail acceptances?..(or rejections) lol
@iwannabeahoya They send emails first then the same message through the mail about four days later.
there haven’t been any acceptances in a full two weeks, are we thinking GT is done?
No way…I highly, highly doubt they’re done. I’m thinking one or two acceptance waves next week, with wait list notifications on the 29th and rejections on the 1st.
do you think they will wait for the 1st for rejections since that would be a monday?
So, I received an email from my own admissions director basically confirming everyone’s suspicions. The majority of acceptances for MSB and the college have been released, however there are still a few applications undergoing review (mine included). She did not mention anything regarding SFS.
@bhollyb what exactly did your admissions director say?
