Georgetown 2015 Fall Transfer Thread

@Brifes MSB

@soccerem13 MSB extended waitlist too!

http://www.thehoya.com/admission-yield-steady-at-47-6/

so near the the bottom of this link, its says:
"The transfer wait list lasts until August, with some students receiving acceptances the first day of registration during the fall semester. Starting last year, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions created an extended wait list that selects a few students for admission.

“[For] about the last 25 transfer students on the wait list, we said, ‘If you’re willing to stay on the wait list and would be willing to accept enrollment on the first day of registration, we will give you a place if there’s space, and if there’s not, we will guarantee you admission in January,’” Deacon said.

Other students on the transfer wait list are accepted for the spring semester. Last year, around 12 students accepted this enrollment plan, and four students were able to enroll in the fall. The remaining eight students enrolled in January."

i’ve read through the past posts and people seem to agree that those placed on extended waitlist are most likely guaranteed admissions, but very last minute. on the 2014 thread, there isn’t much info abt people who got on extended waitlist so…

extended waitlist==

anyone on extended wait list for SFS?

Extended wait list MSB… this killed me. I wish I could have just received a clear decision. How is everyone else going about preparing for housing next year without knowing whether you’ll be going back to your good 'ol school or taking the jump to DC?

@lovecheer86 are you on the SFS extended wait list?

Transfer extended waitlist…Did they put everyone on the waitlist on the extended waitlist?

i called the admission’s office and was told we could still be denied in august from the extended waitlist. however the Hoya article makes it seem like they take the students willing to stick through it, either in the fall or for the spring semester.

i am highly confused (but still accepted the extended waitlist tho).

Yea the article made it seem like we would get in either this semester or next and the email was very pessimistic and left me with little hope

So, the real question is: How many students are on this extended waitlist? Is it around 25 like the past year’s extended waitlist? I just find it strange that there are several students on here who have all made it onto this extended waitlist…

@Jacob4815162342 was thinking the same thing. is this something i should get my hopes up for? trying to wrap my head around/be positive about returning to my current school, but it’s difficult when i’m wishing for a spot (this semester or next) at georgetown

Exactly how I feel @soccerem13

i’m trying to stay hopeful because there only seem to be around 12-13 people on here who got on the extended waitlist. at the same time i don’t want to be hit with disappointment/surprise if it turns out little to no people get accepted from the extended waitlist

wishing the best for all of us!

Extended waitlist for economics here too. It sucks we don’t know more. But on the bright side, if they had said in the letter that we were guaranteed acceptance on the extended waitlist in the fall or spring (like it says in the newspaper article written this year), more people would accept their spots on it.

@lev8990 Cat’s out of the bag now…

Only for people on this forum!

@lev8990 I was thinking the exact same thing… but then I thought, how many students are realistically applying to transfer to Georgetown and yet still don’t know of/use CC? If you’re taking the initiative to apply for transfer after your freshman/sophomore year of college (which happens to be a pretty bold move in my mind), you’re probably also using every resource you can obtain online to keep tabs on the process from end to finish (including the opportunity to post your negative/positive results for superficial reassurance from other students online). So maybe, close to all of the extended waitlisters also all happen to be on this thread. Or maybe I’m overthinking it and there’s actually another 75 students on the extended wait list who just don’t use CC.

You might just be right @Jacob4815162342, I found this forum pretty easily whilst trying to find more info on Georgetown’s decisions. But I wish we had a solid idea of how many people are on the extended wait list…

has any one else called the admissions office about more info?
