Anyone from Texas gotten their letter yet? I live in the Houston area and still (anxiously) awaiting my decision.
@snicks1234 Yeah for sure. I know you’ve probably seen the posts from one disgruntled conservative student here and that’s scared you a bit but Georgetown is actually very bipartisan and accepting of many different political views. We are a fairly liberal campus so you might get challenged on those beliefs occasionally but it’s more in the spirit of a friendly debate than anything else. The College Republicans are also a very vocal group on campus and they often have debates with the College Democrats and host speakers and events. I really wouldn’t worry about it, especially if you are a moderate conservative!
@hoyabluegray. Yes, moderate conservative and even a little liberal in the social areas. I don’t judge or let things that are peoples own business distract me from real issues. So glad. I definitely love to debate. I love the Georgetown campus and fact that t resides in D.C. where everything happens. Hoya Saxa!
Accepted RD!! From Los Angeles
Stats:
SAT (old): 2220
GPA (weighted): 4.6
GPA (unweighted): 4.0
From small, Catholic all girls school. If I go, I will have only been educated by Catholic institutions…
@Tanisha865 i’m in houston too waiting… it sucks but at least we’re not the only ones
@mothtotheflame - Old Lakewood Ranger grad here from the late 60’s. Congatulations on your acceptance! Our S graduated from GU in 2015 (College), Thought he was all set to accept at Northwestern and then he went to GU for the GAAP weekend and the rest is history. He found the campus quite balanced as to politics, sports, clubs and the social scene. It’s what you make of it. And there is always DC to explore on the weekends. The religious environment is what you make of it. There is no pressure from anyone on campus. There is plenty of campus ministry for those who seek it out and wish to participate but there is no requirement to attend any services or meetings. The only religion oriented requirement are the two religion courses. One if the Problem of God, and the second is an elective. S said every section of the POG course was taught with a different perspective. Seek out Wisey’s deli and get the chicken madness sandwich! It’s famous in the area and just a couple of blocks from the main gates on 36th, just south of N Street. It’s across the street from Walsh and Nevils.
I’m from Los Angeles, why is it taking so long so I can get my (rejection) letter!
Not sure if someone already asked this, but am I able to select say, one of my friends who is also going to Gtown, as my roommate through CHARM?
Hey, for those of you who got in, did you receive a phone call from an alum? My brother is away from home and hasn’t been able to get mail, nor has he received a phone call. Please let me know- thanks for the help!
@Jibmonster Received a call today, but they are usually pretty good about calling after the letters have been delivered
Hi guys, just got accepted from georgetown too. Any idea on when they announce the financial aid awards though?
@Tanisha865 yes, I live in Texas and got my letter two days ago
Waitlisted for Georgetown College so thoughts of actually getting in now?
@Imperialscum99 My financial package came with the acceptance letter.
Just got a call from an alumni congratulating me on my acceptance and asking if I had any questions. I didn’t have any because my interviewer answered all my questions and I really researched the school. It was very nice.
I just found out I got in!! I’m military overseas so I didn’t get my mail yet, but I got the GAAP email notifying me of my acceptance to the SFS!!!
@hhjjlala Congrats!! Lots of SFS people here on CC, it seems.
if i dont get my FA info by monday should i shoot gtown an email?
Does anyone know how good Georgetown’s science programs are? I was accepted into the school of life sciences as a pre-med major. I know they’re one of the top schools for international relations but I was just wondering about pre-med.
Are any international students planning to go pre-med?
