Thank you so much for your response! I’ve heard mixed things about the sciences but your answer really helped me and will push me to attend Georgetown even more @badyork
@hhjjlala congrats!!! I’m recently out of active duty Marines and applied as a transfer; seeing Georgetown accept those coming from the military gives me hope! Do you mind if I send you a PM?
Has everyone received an email from GAAP congratulating them or a phone call? I’m out of the country and have no idea of my status. I’m assuming it’s a rejection
Should’ve worded it properly. My dad is military; I’m a military child. However, best of luck to you as a transfer applicant! Thanks for your service.
@hhjjlala no worries and thank you!
Ugh ive loved gtown’s pre med program for years now and it has always been my dream but i was waitlisted. I really hope some pre meds are less enthusiatic about it than me and go somewhere else. I would love to go to georgetown
Still haven’t received a letter (and I live in NY so idk what’s up) but I got a call from GAAP around 6:30pm last night, and I received the gaap weekend invite email. Georgetown FLL 2021! Hoya saxa!!
Going to the spelling bee in D.C. and will do my campus visit then. Been to D.C three times in the last three years and you can feel that vibe. It’s awesome. Sending in my deposit . I still have the Stanford decisions tomorrow, but Georgetown feels right
Hey all! I’m a current sophomore in the SFS. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted! If you have any questions about anything, feel free to send me a message or reply to this thread.
@lm1082 How is the neighborhood around the campus and is there a general feel of safety. Had a friend of my dads son who graduated from Georgetown law and he said it could be a bit shady at times.
has everyone who gotten in received a phone call/the gaap weekend invite? because I STILL have not received my letter and have heard nothing from georgetown thus far…
@snicks1234 Hey there! The Georgetown neighborhood is very safe. I’ve never felt uncomfortable walking around, even at night. As a student you’ll automatically be enrolled in Hoya Alert, which will send out emails when incidents do occur (which is not very often, and these are usually reports of theft when a campus dorm room was left unlocked,
etc). There was one more serious incident that I can recall ever, but that’s been it to my knowledge. There’s also a program called Safe Rides, where you can request a ride and get picked up and taken to where you need to go. As you get farther from campus and more into downtown, this aura of safety might not be as strong but it’s still a pretty safe city, overall. (The Law campus is downtown, which is a pretty different experience.)
I’ve received a phone call from an alumni twice. They’re so nice! I would call them or wait a little longer because they do have a lot of people to call @21nightdash
@21nightdash Hi! I’m not sure about emails, but GAAP finished calling admitted students tonight.
@lm1082 do they call every admitted student?
@21nightdash Yes, but a lot of calls go to voicemail, and some may be incorrect, so it’s not a perfect system. After April 1, you should be able to call the Admissions Office to confirm the decision
@lm1082 Well, I’m undecided on my major. I am thinking neuroscience, but I took a class in constitutional law that was very interesting. Is coming in undecided a negative?
@snicks1234 Not at all! You have until sophomore spring to formally declare, so there’s plenty of time to explore your options and talk to others/your dean about what your interests are and what major is best for you.
To the people asking about phone calls: GAAP has called all admitted students, BUT they only call whatever you listed as your “home” phone number on your application. So if you don’t use your home phone but listed that number on your application, then you may not have received a call.
Hey does anyone know if there’s an accepted students groupme?
