***GEORGETOWN CLASS OF 2021 APPLICANT THREAD***

@AyyyyLmao there is but you must be in the official GAAP FB group to join it.

Daughter wait-listed Georgetown ! Accepted Wharton !!! Go figure

Wow haha well i guess thats an easy decision for her @lmjdad1

Rejected from Upenn accepted early action to Georgetown.

Listen. Just seeing all the stats the last few months and listening to everyones hopes and desires and seeing the way it just seems to make no sense why some are accepted and some aren’t, it just tells me that though it isn’t random it has no rhyme either. And only the admissions people know the reasons. They have guidelines, but they have bias too as we all do. So , I just say unless you have perfect scores, a 100 EC’s , a job, a hook and did something amazingly unbelieveable you’re not a for sure acceptance. And even then I have read the shock of disbelief from some that had that sort of resume after they were rejected or waitlisted. How some have been rejected at a state school ,but accepted by an Ivy. Ya do your best and grab the dice and give it a roll, because there is some degree of luck. If every kid on these threads got what their hard work deserved they would all be accepted by all the ivies, but there are only so many slots to divvy up to all these kids. So some of us don’t get in. Ya know what? Once we are in our schools and having a blast, getting ready for the world, we won’t even care.

I’m thankful for GU! Hoya saxa!! Yup ! Yup!

@snicks1234 well said. In so many cases it’s like winning the lottery. Your stats may have gotten you through the first cut, but after that, who knows why they take some people over others. I think we need to look at it differently…it’s not so much that all of these amazing applicants were “rejected”…it’s that for some reason, some others’ applications stood out more. I’m sure the admissions committee struggles with having to reject some students because they know they would do very well at their school, but, as you said, there just aren’t enough spots. I’m hoping that everyone reading all of these many posts for these top, most elite schools have not put all of their eggs in one basket. Make sure your list is balanced.

Has everyone who was accepted received an email and/or call? I’m on vacation. Do they leave a voicemail on your home phone if you don’t answer?

I did gt a call. I was doing an assignment and had the door closed to my room. My father picked up the phone while she was a paragraph into the call. I say a paragraph because when listening to it on the recorder it sounded like she was reading it at times. My Dad handed me the phone and we had a nice conversation. I think the call is to gauge your interest in Georgetown and to spark your interest. I do believe if we hadn’t picked up she would have left congratulations and a message on voicemail.

I still haven’t got any emails or calls from Georgetown does this mean that I’m rejected?

Hi guys. I’m thrilled to be accepted into Georgetown but I was also accepted into Cornell. Both are amazing schools which is why I’m stuck on which one to choose for Premed. Please help

^That sounds a little biased haha after all im sure cornell students are proud to be ivy students not lesser than others in any way. But @badyork i would recommend visiting if you havent yet cause at this point theyre both great schools so it just depends on what youll be happy with

Does anyone know if u have to be in NHS to be in gtowns premed program/“society” as they call it

Thank you! That was actually really helpful and yea georgetown’s early assurance program was one of the main factors I was attracted to georgetown. And I will definitely visit both. Thank you again

And no you don’t have to be apart of the NHS to be on the Pre med track

I haven’t gotten my admissions decision yet. I know it’s coming in the mail but feel like I’ve been waiting for longer than usual. Also never received a call. I guess I’ll try calling the admissions office soon

Hello everyone. My daughter is thrilled to be accepted to GU SFS. It has been her dream for several years. She was also accepted to the Dual BA program between Columbia and Science Po. and is incredibly torn. Is anyone familiar with the Columbia-Science Po program and how it would compare to a degree from GU SFS?

Does anyone know if most students find their roommates through the CHARM system or more from GAAP Weekend/Group Me/Facebook? Are students picking roommates yet that have committed?

@collegemomjam There’s definitely a mix. A lot of people find their roommates through CHARMS but a lot of people also find their roommates through GAAP weekend/ GroupMe, or Facebook. It kind of depends on what kind of person you are. If you don’t really care about who your roommate is as long as your living preferences line up, then people tend to go randomly through CHARMS. If you really want to get to know your roommate before living with them, then people tend to find their roommates through GAAP weekend/ GroupMe/ Facebook. People tend to not start picking roommates until later in the summer after everybody’s committed to Georgetown, especially since CHARMS doesn’t open until the summer and roommates aren’t due until July I think… Sometimes roommate pairs fall through, if one person gets off the waitlist at another school or something like that but in general, roommates are chosen once everybody feels pretty secure with where they’re going.

@SaltH20 You should post your question on the Columbia board.
