Georgetown Class of 2024 Applicants Discussion Thread

Congrats to everyone accepted  My dreams are crushed lol

White female from an affluent town
GPA: 4.4
ACT: 34
Subject test scores in the 700s I don’t remember exactly
Good ECs (All state french horn, president of multiple clubs, lots of volunteering, tutoring, I teach music lessons, sports)

Oh well. I guess it wasn’t meant to be, but I really did love the school.

@benandjerrys101 forgot to explicitly say I was rejected but I’m sure that was obvious

My financial aid has yet to come out either. Not sure what’s happening. I have tried to call Financial Services (regarding late package and another urgent matter), email and call the Director of Financial Services for my last name, and called the general University number. All pre-recorded answering machines besides the main university number but the rep was no help. If anyone is trying to get into contact I’d suggest an email to a specific person instead of an email to the Financial Services Dept. Or just emails to every Georgetown contact you can find like me lol. Good luck you guys, I really just want to see my award.

Here is the link to find actual contacts for your last name in the Financial Service Department

Would you mind sharing what your other schools/options are?

Yes I have also sent various emails and still no answer on the financial aid. Hoping they will release that later.

Got my results. No aid. My parents would literally have to empty their retirement savings and my sister’s college savings to pay the full 80k a year, so unless I can make a successful appeal, I guess it’s not happening

I wanted to reach out because I got absolutely nothing from them either. They literally said I am not eligible. Maybe its some sort of error. I’ve already sent a bunch of emails-- to both aid directors for my last name, to my admissions counselor, to the assistant dean of financial services, and to financial services in general-- desperate for a response and explanation. My father lost his job in the summer of 19 so we are definitely going to do everything we can to appeal. I hope you can do the same and they will listen to us. I want to go so badly, and seeing “not eligible” under aid was the worst feeling ever. I wish you luck!

I haven’t received my package yet and I am scared I won’t qualify either. Best of luck to both of you!

@hrrbgirl13 How did you get your financial aid to arrive? Did someone email you back?

Does anyone have Pros and Cons for Georgetown at all listed !!!

@collgedreamng121 I emailed finfront@georgetown.edu (double check on the office of financial aid website) and someone got back to me quickly. Turns out I was missing a document so that could be the issue for yours too(check IDOC but also contact them). The guy said that once all required materials are submitted they will go through them and upload your award to myAccess.

having a hard time trying to log in to see my financial aid. my password didnt work and I called the help desk, waited for 40 min before hanging up.

Congrats to all accepted!!

@benandjerrys101 I am so sorry that you are crushed:/ You sound like an amazing candidate to me. Music is a lovely and tough EC at the same time because it could be that GT has an overload of French horn players, if that makes sense. But I hope you can wake up tomorrow and the sun is shining where you live: I hope you receive an acceptance that delights you soon.

Hi all,

First off, congratulations to all those who are accepted as Class of 2024 and welcome to GU! I’m a rising junior in the GU college and I’ve been following this thread since day 1 along with my sister who also applied here. Probably shouldn’t, but I couldn’t help it. WINKWINK* It’s super nerve-wracking and I love it! Nonetheless, I’ll be on campus as early as the 8th of August as an incoming RA, so if any of you would like to chat about anything or even hang out before the semester & NSO, feel free to HMU! my email addresses are as follows; (alieyousof@gmail.com or mbm267@georgetown.edu) and either one should be fine. I look forward to seeing y’all on campus! Until then, stay safe and stay inside. #HOYASAXA

Hi Ali! @alieyousof I do have some questions
How are the study abroad opportunities at Georgetown and do most students take advantage? Would you happen to know anything about costs?
Do you have any comparisons got GT and other DC schools?
Do you feel confident in the job placement/ network after college?
Any info on the business school?
Sorry for all the questions, just really nervous to be from Texas and move really far.
Thank you!!!

@redwag nope. if you’re in the college, you don’t declare your major until the end of your sophomore year so you can kind of take whatever classes you want. Just make sure to let your dean know that you’re changing plans so they don’t advise you wrong or reserve your spot in certain classes required for the biology major.

@underscoreeanlu You can internally transfer by emailing your dean and asking about the transfer process or by filling out the transfer application on the georgetown website. They accept almost everyone, just make sure it’s what you want to do! (transferring back is not an option)

Hi there!

Please don’t apologize and I completely understand where you’re coming from. I’m from Oregon and I was in the same spot few years ago. I’ll try my best to answer all of your questions. fingers crossed

With regards to study abroad opportunities, GU do offer a LARGE number of programs for undergraduates and in many countries. Most of these programs are OFTEN open to all GU’s undergraduate students (unless otherwise specified) and varies in length–a semester to full-year or just summer–depending on their focus. I’d recommend visiting the link below for more information. Also, most students I know DO plan to study abroad either during their junior or sophomore year and the costs to attend them are often included in your COA should you decide to do a full regular semester or two, (out of 8) abroad.

On the other hand, with regards to job placement/network after college, I can say confidently that I am NOT at all concerned of this. If you’re not aware already, Georgetown IS a target school for some of the top investment banking and consulting firms in the country and we do have tons of networking events throughout the year with reps from these firms. As for the MSB, especially if you’re in it, get ready to hear some fresh & harmless trash-talk each semester as an MS-BRo working to make it big in life. Laughing emoji.

Hope this helps and feel free to email me if you have any other questions. I’d be happy to help you answer them.
