Georgetown Fall 2017 Transfer

@Ireallywhat2 Yeah, guess I can’t use that excuse until the end of the month when my deposits are due. What email did you use to get in contact with them?

@iMacHD congrats! Nice to hear that they are still sending out decisions for the College.

Hi everyone,

Just received my acceptance letter at around 5 PM. Very excited!
If they release it by region of application/college applied, I applied from northern florida, where I attend university.
Accepted as Biochemistry in the College

Some stats:
High School GPA: 3.8 unweighted, 4.5 weighted
High School Rank: Top 2%, but this was out of 3800 students
AP Scores: Two 5’s, Three 4’s, Three 3’s, no fails
IB in High School
SAT: 2110
SAT II: 760 Bio M, 770 Math 2

College GPA: 4.0 on the application (entering as sophomore)
Was in honors, forgot to put it down (may have been on transcript, not really sure)

Subjectives:
A bunch of high school extracurriculars, lots of in-school high level leadership like founding a club, not much within actual community
Normal amount of volunteer hours, just volunteered wherever I had fun
Research Lab position
Took a ton of credits and my course load was pretty intense, so 4.0 probably looked extra good
Rec letters were probably ok, one from a prof I did some tutoring for in the class, and another from a prof whose office hours I attended a lot
Interview was probably the second best thing besides my GPA, we really connected and I poured my heart out about why Georgetown was important for my long-term goals
Not that involved in college besides research and tutoring

Unsure how good my essays were. Not too specific for Georgetown itself, but they read pretty normal. Probably not a huge detriment or bonus on my application.

I was rejected at Columbia and Penn (not even waitlisted)

Good luck to everyone! Transfer threads are pretty wonderfully positive and supportive compared to some of the freshman admissions threads.
Go Hoyas!

Got in to college today! Good luck to everyone else.

Could you please share stats? @iMacHD

would you mind sharing stats? @dhdidnd

My theory stands as to transfers getting in with amazing high school stats…

@EconDon23
Applied to college
I’m a sophomore now so i would be a junior
College GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1430/1600 (just math and reading)
Lots of extra activities for both college and HS
Essays very good
Recommendation should be very good (writen by a Georgetown alumni actually)
Great interview
High school GPA: very very very bad

@Robinyoursoul I sent the e-mail to the transferadmission@georgetown, the one specific e-mail box for transfer

@EconDon23 if you are applying as a rising sophomore, you will need killer HS stats to get into a school like Georgetown. General rule goes that anywhere you weren’t a competive applicant to as a freshman applicant, you cant get into as a sophomore transfer, even if you get a 4.0 college GPA.

Now if you want to transfer as a rising junior, that’s a different story. Then HS stats matter much less and the role they play depends on the selectivity/preferences of the school your applying to.

@EconDon23 I think @HopefullyIGetIn is right. I have a really bad SAT score, really, really bad, so I didn’t choose to transfer in my freshmen year. But now with my 3.98GPA and college ECs I am much more confident, and finally get in

Hi guys, so until now all accepted no rejected?

I applied to college. cs major. I am going in as a sophomore/junior (I had a semester off).
college gpa 4.0
highschool gpa 3.0/3.5
sat 1460/1600

Good essay
Good EC (A lot of awards for conferences)
2 recs (should be good)
I had no interview

Once again, good luck to everyone.

Nevermind guys we have one transfer so far with similar stats as mine! Have hope guys!

Good luck to everyone today; I’m sure we have better chances than the Caps at Game 7 :frowning:
